What to visit in the department of Seine-et-Marne
Direction Crécy-la-Chapelle, a pretty village still known as "la Venise Briarde". Beautiful walks are to be done along the banks of the Grand Morin. The church of Saint Georges is also to be discovered.
The medieval city of Provins is a must in the region, and is even listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ramparts, underground passages and the Caesar Tower are worth a visit. Many medieval shows as well as shows featuring birds of prey are held regularly. The 3.5 hectare rose garden transports its visitors into an extraordinary olfactory and visual world.
A short detour to the town of Fontainebleau is a must. Located in the middle of the "Forêt de Fontainebleau", many activities such as climbing and hiking make this village a popular place for sports enthusiasts. The Château de Fontainebleau attracts many tourists every year, who come to discover its interiors and its surrounding gardens and parks.
The 17th century castle of Vaux le Vicomte is also a visit to Maincy, just like that of Blandy-les-Tours. The ruins of Dammarie-les-Lys Abbey offer a unique sight, with remnants of the past in urban areas!
The village of Barbizon is known to have seen many painters there. From Auberge Ganne to Maison de Rousseau, many visitors follow in the footsteps of the greatest artists every year!
Finally, we also recommend a stopover in the beautiful village of Moret-sur-Loing, where the Rosa Bonheur Museum and the Alfred Sisley "point" are worth a visit.
