How to camp properly in Normandy?

Whether you want to park your campervan on the coast, at the edge of the Manche, or plant your tent in the hinterland, the Norman hosts of HomeCamper will welcome you with open arms in their gardens. Why visit Normandy?

Normandy is a region filled with history. Whether in medieval times or during the Second World War, Normandy played an important role in the history of France. At the border with Brittany stands the famous Mont-Saint-Michel. It is in the middle of the Mont-Saint-Michel bay that we discover this architectural and religious gem. Its small alleys, lined with shops and restaurants, will take you to the Mont-Saint-Michel Abbey and its cloister. Nature and great spaces lovers will marvel at the bay fauna and flora, animated by its tides. Further north, in Bayeux, you can admire the famous Bayeux Tapestry, which tells about the England conquest by the Normans during 11th century. Going up in the history and more precisely on June 6th, 1944, we land on the landing beaches. Omaha Beach, Sword Beach, Utah Beach and many other beaches on the Normandy coast have seen thousands of Allied soldiers come to liberate France during the Second World War. Along the coast you can visit beaches, blockhouses, military cemeteries and many other places filled with history. At Caen, you can visit the Caen Memorial, a "Museum for Peace" on the theme of the two world wars. Don't miss out Caen and Rouen, the two historic capitals of Normandy, as well as Le Havre And Dieppe, the two major maritime crossroads in the region. Nature and geology lovers will appreciate the downstream cliffs in Etretat as well as its pebble beaches. 

When to visit Normandy?

Normandy is visited all year round. Being a region known to be rainy, it is better to go there in the summer. However, you will enjoy the greenery of the area in the spring. At the end of May, the athletes will be able to take part in the famous Mont-Saint-Michel Marathon. The less athletes will be able to applaud the riders of this very special marathon. Lovers of 7th Art have an appointment in mid-June to the Cabourg Film Festival. They will have the opportunity to take place in a giant cinema set up on the beach for the occasion. At the end of the summer, it is the turn of Deauville to celebrate the 7th art during the American film Festival.
