For parking: Parking is not an issue on our farm, but I must warn that the last 100 meters of road is actually a riverbed. In summer months it is drive-able even with a small rental car, motor bikes and 4 wheels are better. During the springtime it can still be flowing, muddy, sandy with some large stones in which our 4x4 is only accessible, sometimes we park and walk thru a neighboring farm. Please let us know what your transportation plans are and we will help!
The setting
In the garden we have orange, lemon, olive, apricot, peach, tangerine trees, bananas, chickens, ducks, peacocks, geese, goats, a growing biodiversity of flowers, fruits and vegetables and not to forget marble and stone sculptures! Christos has planted over 400 cypress trees boarding the entire land and over 100 young pomegranate trees offering fruits in September thru November. There are mountain views in 3 directions, there is no sea view because we are almost at sea level and there are trees. The night sky is very bright since there is low light pollution, you can see the village lights off in the distance.
The spots
The ground is fairly level throughout, there are several places among the lemon and orange grove that are shaded all day and also protected if there is wind, during hot summer months. In the spring and fall, there are more open areas that provide both sun and shade.
The sanitary facilities
There is an outhouse and sink for washing up.
The amenities
No electricity. In the central area under large Italian cypress trees there is a small stone house that is slowly being refurbished. Basically 3 walls and floor where we have a cooking area with gas burners, cooking fireplace, basic cookware, kitchen supplies, cups, and plates. Outside next to an old well there is a washbasin and water tank for washing up, a goldfish pond, and a large marble table with chairs. We will supply fresh drinking water everyday, Greek coffee, basic cooking needs, (salt, pepper, oil some spices) all the lemons you can possibly use! Depending on the season we may have fresh organic produce to offer at market price/kilo.
The activities
I do offer one on one stone carving lessons, traditional hand tooling techniques. If you are interested in permaculture/organic gardening and or building projects we can talk more in depth!
As for the surrounding area, there is SO much to enjoy in Naxos!
