Description

This is not a campsite, but an experience in the heart of nature, on an island accessible only by boat, with no water or electricity, in the Amiens hortillonnages marshes. Wildlife is at home here. You are invited by the owners, Valérie and Olivier, who have landscaped the plot with the greatest respect for the environment.
The grass is not mown, but cut in the paths. The tents are set up on terraces and equipped with air mattresses, essential for a good night's sleep in this humid environment.

A haven of greenery, a wild island in the heart of the Amiens hortillonnages on an orchard of plenty, with all the low-tech comforts: dry toilets, willow hut shower, natural straw hut, spacious teepee tents.
Somewhere between an eco-lodge and a scout camp, this is a unique adventure. #roots #DigitalDetox #Glamping #BellTent #Permaculture #Wildlife #LowTech #koh-lanta

The setting

A small island accessible only by boat, a breathtaking setting 15 minutes from downtown Amiens.
In this orchard-garden, everything is organic and natural.
Nature brings out the best in this extremely fertile land.
The terrestrial fauna (squirrels, insects, rodents, etc.), aerial fauna (butterflies, dragonflies, numerous birds and palmidae) and aquatic fauna (fish, frogs, etc.) live in harmony with the flora (tall trees, shrubs and grasses, flowers, etc.) and the organic permaculture vegetable garden.
The islet is at the heart of the international Art et Jardins festival, with islets laid out by landscape gardeners and visual artists. For the festival, boats can be hired from the manure harbor jetty 200m away.

The spots

Shady grounds with lots of charming, romantic spots.
Access by boat 5-10 min from the landing stage.
The landing stage is 15 min from Amiens and Longueau train stations.

The sanitary facilities

Dry toilets on the grounds and on a nearby public island.
Outdoor shower with bamboo and willow screen.

The amenities

A fishing boat provides access to the site, 5 minutes from the pier by electric motor (10 minutes by rowing boat).
As a crusoe hortillon, you'll have all the comforts of a scout/robinson camp at your disposal: a straw hut, a sleeping area with firewood, a fire table for cooking, scout tables and chairs, a chest of drawers, a storage trunk, a dry toilet and solar shower, a hammock and a carrycot.
Canoes and stand-up paddles can be rented to get lost in 300 ha, 400 islands and 60 km of canals.
Water pump not drinkable, no access to mains electricity.
Bring drinking water and an external battery to charge your phone.
Good 4G connection.

The activities

Boat, canoe or paddle trips, supplement payable on site.
Parcours Art et Jardins, international garden festival of the Haut de France, 200 m from the port à fumier pier.
Amiens Cathedral, UNESCO World Heritage Site
Jules Vernes house
The Saint-Leu district
Samara prehistoric park
Events in Amiens (15-20 min from city center)

2 supermarkets (Intermarché and Lidl) are 5 minutes from the pier.

  • An out-of-this-world, out-of-time experience. A stay like a Robinson is not to be missed. Olivier showed us around his paradise and the surrounding area. It was enriching and very enjoyable! Thanks again for his warm welcome and company! We look forward to meeting again!

  • 1 evening and night out of time, no sooner had we reached the pier than we unplugged, slowed down and rediscovered the pleasure of being surrounded by nature. Lovely chats with olivier and valerie. In short, a wonderful authentic family moment.

  • A wonderful experience in Valérie and Olivier's little paradise! We really enjoyed our arrival by boat, the magical setting and the friendly welcome from our two hosts. A must do again.

  • We rented this island for an EVG, the surprise for the groom was topissime. Very good welcome from Olivier and his wife Valerie, everything necessary for an evening in the nature. Kindness and good mood were at the rendezvous. Olivier even helped us to organize the small tour of the lake for the future groom in unicorn :).
    I warmly recommend this place

  • Loved the idea of wildlife camping! Olivier also gave us a private tour around the islands, we loved it! Many thanks!

  • Wonderful place and a great stay. Thanks to Olivier for his confidence

  • Unforgettable. An ideal place to get away from it all. You have to take your time to really enjoy it. Night a little cold, cover yourself well.

  • Olivier is a very pleasant person and I would recommend him to anyone who wants to stay with us. I recommend without hesitation

  • Olivier is a very friendly and welcoming person
    An extraordinary experience
A night in the middle of nature was great

  • Small idyllic weekend...
The welcome was very nice, Valerie and Olivier put us quickly at ease.
    Heavenly environment and very exotic.
We benefited from an "up grade" with a night in a teepee in exchange of a hand to dredge the bank.
A return to the essential, rustic comfort that gives a side "end of the world" associated with many facilities such as hammocks, hanging chairs, huts in the trees ...
Possibility to walk on several islands and loan of a boat for a tour in the hortillonnages.
    The perfection ! ????

  • Olivier has created an incredibly beautiful, secluded little world that will allow you to fulfill any of your Robinson Crusoe fantasies in the heart of the Somme. The trip to his hidden island is via a stunning trip by rowboat into a spooky/cool overgrown creek that expands into a little paradise. You get the best of both worlds with some passionately constructed facilities - castaway kitchen and dining areas which have to be seen to be believed, toilet and shower; all nestled in a lovingly curated rambling orchard. Of course the big fireplace area was also great. We enjoyed ourselves so much.
