Description

No frills camping on Haleakala.

The setting

No frills camping on Haleakala.
The tent will be setup prior to your arrival so you can easily go in and get settled when you get to the property.

The price includes a stay for 2 adults.
An additional guest is $10 per night.
There is no cleaning fee.

We are on Haleakala but on private land outside of the national park so no additional permit is required to camp.
We also have free parking which is about a minute walk from the site.

The tent is uphill from the parking area & restrooms so guests must be able to walk up and down hill on a dirt path on rocky terrain (i.e. not handicap accessible).
The property is sloped since we are on a dormant volcano.

The tent site is located above a working farm with customer activity daily from 1pm until 6:30pm. The 5 toilets are shared with other campers (and visitors during our opening hours).
The shower is only shared between the campers.

We are not a campsite, we are offering affordable accommodation on our off-grid farm property.
If you want to stay at a campsite please get a permit through the park service and go to one of the national parks.

This is our largest tent, it’s technically a 6-person tent.
It’s a little further uphill making it slightly farther from the restroom and common area activity (about 200 paces, or about a 1.5 minute walk to the restrooms and parking).
Guest access

We have deck where you can relax, take in the views, or enjoy some drinks & snacks. The deck is also popular spot for yoga or light exercise in the morning.

We also recently put together a covered gazebo with a propane grill and will be developing this area with additional seating. You are welcome to use the grill anytime.
Other things to note

Our upcountry peace of paradise is a good resting spot for exploring the Seven Sacred pools, Hana, or the top of Haleakala.

We are easy to get to, our property is directly off the road to Hana and Haleakala.

When you get a park pass for Oheo Gulch (I.e. 7 Sacred Pools) or a pass when you enter the summit of Haleakala it is valid to enter both parks within a 3 day period without having to pay again. We are situated between both park entrances which makes our location ideal if you plan on doing both.

We are 14 miles from the turn to go up Haleakala and 26 miles from the 7 Sacred Pools & the bamboo forest.

We are also only 2 miles from the Maui Winery and 15 miles from the Maui Lavender Farm.

The spots

Daytime temperatures are quite warm (80-95F) but bc of our elevation night time temps can be 65-75F.

We are in a dry pocket so it’s generally not rainy, however weather can change quickly and unexpectedly.

We have a beautiful ocean view but we are not on the beach.
The closest town, Ulupalakua, is only 2 miles away.

The sanitary facilities

We have a rustic outdoor but enclosed un-heated shower and flushing portable toilets in a communal area about a 1 minute walk from the tent.

The amenities

We have a propane grill you can use but no refrigeration or other cooking facilities or other amenities available.
