  • Gérard is a very nice host who loves to share his beautiful castle and the huge enchanted park. We felt very welcome with our dog and it was an unforgettable experience. Merci Gérard et Igor et Morgane

  • Really - it was great! Especially Gérard and the chateau was extraordinary!

  • Despite a charming welcome from Gérard, we were disappointed(....)

  • Gérard is very friendly and communication worked well. The camping spot is in a very shady hollow, ideal for heatwaves.

  • The place is very quiet and restful. The park is very beautiful. Sleeping at the foot of a castle was a unique experience. The welcome is excellent, and communication is good.

  • Very good!

  • Two very pleasant nights in the grounds of Château de Gerard. The space is vast and bucolic
    Perfect for disconnecting.
The roots version of château life

  • Very good welcome by Gérard. Access a little narrow for a 6.40m van. Parking in a clearing beside a river. Nice walk in the château grounds. Great experience. Thank you very much. Nor

  • Very satisfied

  • What a nice setting. Thank you Gerard for your hospitality!

  • Very nice welcome from Gerard. We spent the night in a magnificent setting at the foot of this beautiful castle. To do again.

  • The owner is a passionate person who knows how to share his knowledge of history, the camp is well shaded, the only thing missing is a shower in the sanitary facilities. We spent a pleasant moment in this place.

  • Warm welcome from Gérard. We enjoyed walking in the park of the castle and discovering its history through the anecdotes of our host. Ideal to discover Périgueux and its region!

  • We were very well received in this large property. Exceptional setting and well located to visit the region. The road is quite close and busy so bring earplugs if you are sensitive to noise at night.

  • Thank you very much for your welcome.
    Very pleasant setting.

  • Very good experience in an exceptional setting!

  • I had a fantastic stay at Gerard’s Chateaux. The setting was perfect. Peaceful, pretty, with the castle up above making for an ideal French experience. And Gerard was very attentive and excellent conversationalist . And it helped that he had good English. I recommend this property to anyone looking for a unique camping experience.

  • Standing at the foot of a fairy tale castle is something special. Gerard is a very friendly, reserved lord of the castle. The communication in English worked without problems. In about 200m from the castle there is a supply & disposal station of the municipality.

  • We had a very nice stay at Gerard's place in Chateau l'Evêque.
Gerard was present at the gate to welcome us and guide us to the location on the waterfront with a magnificent view of the imposing castle.

We were even able to walk in the private gardens of the castle. We missed the guided tour but it is a good opportunity to come back.

I advise you to make the detour. The place is perfect to visit Périgueux, Sarla, La Roque-Gageac, etc.

  • Very nice camping spot

  • Very interesting experience at the Château. Mix of nature and history wonderfully told by Gerard.
Thank you for your welcome, very nice continuation!

  • We spent a night out of time in a magnificent setting. Gerard is a host available, listening, friendly and attentive.
    We will come back again.

  • A stay in a timeless setting, the children loved it and Gérard's welcome is flawless, thank you again

  • Gerard was responsive and super welcoming following my message. The site of the Castle is magnificent! and is worth the detour. Thank you for making it available.

  • Magnificent place: Gérard allowed us to enjoy a splendid setting full of history. Staying in the park of this superb castle is a privilege that we appreciated.
Moreover, the chateau owner gave us a wonderful welcome. He is a man who is passionate about his castle, who loves to tell its history and who knows how to interest visitors.
This stay of 4 nights will remain one of the best memories since we are camping.
Finally, the location is ideal because it is only a few dozen kilometers from major tourist sites.

  • Welcomed by Gerard, delightful owner and fervent defender of heritage to be restored in the original architecture.
The enchanting setting of the site on the banks of the small river (provide mosquito repellent candle) with the view of the castle is a pure delight.
Toilets and electrical outlets in an annex building, higher up.
The village is beautifully laid out in terms of sidewalks, parking and flowery vegetation.
bakery, bar-tabac and pharmacy in the village
For lovers of castles and classified heritage, we are close to Perigueux, Brantome and an hour from the Charente, the Dordogne or the Périgord.

  • A great site, and Gerard is adorable! Thank you!

  • An exceptional setting in the park of this beautiful castle and a good welcome from the owner.
    An access to toilets.
    We enjoyed this beautiful place.

  • To feel like a squire during a stay at Gérard's castle is an unforgettable experience ????
Not to mention that Gérard is a refined host who is passionate about his castle and who shares his passion, a memorable encounter ????
You may have the opportunity to share a walk in the park with him...
    Thank you Gérard ????

  • Very nice and quiet place and Gérald is in the transmission of his passion the castle

  • We spent 5 days at Gerard's and frankly thank you for everything! The magnificent setting, your kindness and your hospitality!

  • The castle is charming as well as the reception. The place itself where we put the van/tent is a little enclosed but nice and the toilets proposed are old but very practical, thank you for everything!

  • Gerard welcomed us very well. The place is very beautiful and very quiet

  • Very nice pitch on the water at the foot of the Château. Beautiful park and friendly welcome by the lord of the castle. In the morning you will find a baker for the baguette Périgord in the immediate vicinity.

  • warm welcome, remember to ask for electricity, beware that it is not available for large motorhomes, small ones beware narrow passage I scratched mine!

  • We spent a night at Gerard's house...we were very well received.
Gerard is passionate about his castle and the history that follows from it...very well related during the visit of the place...
We met a very courageous man who alone at the helm of this enormous ship that is his castle, but all in implementation to preserve this heritage.
As far as the pitches are concerned, there is no fuss... we are in the nature near the river... quiet...
The toilets are about thirty meters away in an outbuilding.
Do not hesitate if you like old stones and atypical places...

  • A very pleasant stay at Gerard's (and Igor's!) and in the park of their magnificent house!
A passage rich of discoveries and good moments.
    Thank you very much!

  • Gerard is a welcoming and pleasant person with whom to exchange is a pleasure, we had the chance to visit his magnificent castle.
Igor the owner is adorable, our Piwie keeps a very good memory of it too!

  • Very good stay in this setting at the foot of a castle and a quiet park full of life, a beautiful setting to relax and spend a good moment of tranquility.

  • Great location right within the Château. For a large van, best option is right next to the bridge, for smaller vans the field at the bottom is ideal.

The access is a little ‘tight’ but very possible with care.

History of the Château is amazing and Gerard is amazingly knowledgeable and keen to share it with anyone who has the time to listen, really interesting.

Highly recommended for those who like calm and tranquility

  • We celebrated our wedding anniversary in a motor home in the park of Gerard's castle.
    Gerard welcomed us very well.
He shared with us his love of the castle and the park.
We wish him every success in his renovation projects.
Thank you for this delicious stay!

  • Great place to pitch your tent! A very nice and clean green space, the welcome and availability of Gerard was perfect!

  • Great welcome from Gérard and little Igor
The location at the foot of the castle is spectacular

  • Very good welcome from Gerard despite a late arrival at night! The site is very pleasant and Gerard is an available and accommodating host. The little plus is the presence of toilets nearby. We will return to Château-l'Evêque but for a longer period to visit the area!

  • Congratulations to Gérard for maintaining this historical heritage. Beautiful site and Gerard is a very nice host and we wish him good luck for the execution of this beautiful project. Do not hesitate to follow the visit, Gerard is an excellent guide!
