The farmhouse is located in Salento, in the area between Gallipoli and S. Maria di Leuca, not far from the marina of Capilungo (sea at 800 m), in an area dedicated to agriculture and conservation of the landscape and rural traditions. It is part of an organic production company focused on olive growing and is aimed at ecological and responsible tourism, offering environmentally sustainable products and services (from accommodation to typical products).
Macaria is a refuge surrounded by nature 800m from the sea, dedicated to the preservation of the landscape, agriculture, rural traditions of this part of Salento, on the Ionian coast south of Gallipoli.
The environment has all the most authentic rural characteristics: dry stone walls, red earth, plants of the bush and an old trullo. The farm produces EVO oil using the cold-pressing method.
The setting
The farmhouse is in contact on one side with the sea and its sandy and rocky coasts, on the other side with the rural hinterland and its historical villages such as Felline and Ugento. Nearby there are the Regional Park of Punta Pizzo and the one of Ugento coast, areas that protect flora and fauna of this stretch of Ionian coast.
The spots
Our campsite offers each guest 100m² and the shade of 4 centuries-old olive trees for his or her own personal adventure: found between the pages of a book, in a romantic dinner for two under the stars, or the most incredible of all, which begins snoozing under the branches of ancient trees, caressed by a light breeze that smells of the sea...
When all this activity has tired you out, all around you you will find tropical beaches with a blue sea, magnificent cities of art and the lights of festivals and fairs that light up every night in a different country.
The activities
The farmhouse offers excursions on foot or by bicycle to discover the Serre Salentine, small hills where the Mediterranean maquis and the traditional rural system coexist harmoniously.
You can visit cities such as Gallipoli, with its historic center built on a limestone island and enclosed by Spanish walls, and Lecce, rich in Baroque architectural jewels and cultural landmark.
