Description

Hola! Our land has olive and almond trees with secluded nooks and crannies for tents and flat land for campervans.
There are lovely countryside views and as we are situated on a track, we have direct access to plenty of walking, cycling or even off-roading in the many kilometres of ramblas or dry riverbeds.
We have bicycles for you to borrow.
There are two newly renovated showers and toilets and also a washing machine (small charge) in the outside kitchen area.

The setting

Our Cortijo is on a short track from a very quiet road just 5 minutes drive from a village with two bars situated near Huercal-Overa. We are surrounded by beautiful scenery including hills and mountains in the distance. This is a very quiet area with only two neighbours using the track. At night you will probably hear our resident owls and perhaps the odd fox and cicadas but rarely anything else. In Spring, there are many varieties of wildflowers throughout the hills and tracks. We have Bee eaters and Rollers with their bright colours and happy chirping throughout the Spring and Summer.

The spots

There are some lovely secluded spots to settle down with your tent in amongst the olive trees. There is flat parking for camper vans/motorhomes near the facilities but if you prefer we do have one or two more secluded spots if you're more of an intrepid driver! There is limited shade during the hot Summer months so please bear this in mind.

The sanitary facilities

We have lovely toilets and showers situated in an old building with 24 hour access.
We are unable to accept black waste at this time but Huercal-Overa has emptying facilities. It is only a 15 minute drive away.

The amenities

We have a rustic kitchen area with washing machine (small charge), toaster, kettle, cooker and hob. You will find crockery and cutlery here too.
We have a limited amount of electricity which you are welcome to share but not too many devices can be used at the same time!! Mobile phone/laptop charging available.

The activities

From our property you can walk or cycle for miles along the tracks and ramblas.
We have bicycles for you to borrow.
If you like horse riding, there are stables not too far away.

Other things

Although we are always around, we will not bother you during your stay. We urge you to contact us if you need anything.
There are two street markets in Huercal-Overa which is a 15 minute drive away.
The town also has plenty of supermarkets to stock up on supplies.
We are about a 40 minute drive to Mojacar and Carolina Beach which is very popular with camper vans.

Rules

We don't really want to impose rules.
We only ask that you're respectful of us and anyone else staying with us...which we're sure you will be!
This is our home and we'd like to invite nice, friendly people only!
We feel unable to accept children at this stage.
A smoking area will be provided but please be mindful of the fire risk in this part of Spain.
The fire risk also prohibits the use of campfires in the Summer but we have an area dedicated to lighting a fire during the Winter.
There will be a safe area for your bbq.
Thank you.

  • Absolutely lovely. Dawn and her husband Geoff are very welcoming. Gorgeous views, peace and nature. Hidden gem. If you want to do nothing except relax and enjoy.nature then this place is for.you. Wish you both all the best. Thank you.

  • It was a fantastic stay on a beautiful property with Dawn and Jeff. They are great hosts and the peace and quiet here is incredible. Also the very clean showers and toilets!

  • This is what home camping should all be about! I only wish I could have stayed longer. Dawn and Jeff were very inviting and good compony in the short space of time I had.

This is amazing value for the facilities provided which were a really good standard and clean. The views from the site are amazing in 360 degrees.

Well worth the 60 mile round trip I made to the site off eurovelo 8 haha.

    Thanks again both!

  • We came two nights in a tent, the ground is large and large, for a bit of shade there is an olive tree at the bottom right of the ground which perfectly accommodates a tent and leaves it in the shade during the morning and most of the evening.
We received a very warm welcome!
Jeff is more discreet than his wife but very kind and helpful.
Dawn is very warm and caring.
This couple exudes kindness and benevolence. They listen and are always ready to help.
Our little stay was more than wonderful thanks to the city to visit and restaurant recommendations.
A big thank you to Dawn and Jeff

  • I booked here for one night at the last minute to avoid the bad weather (I was originally going to stop further inland) and I don't regret my choice... Dawn has been extremely nice and helpful - way more than you would expect!
They have a small kitchen and independent toilets and shower which is really something I'm looking for when choosing a place to stay be it for the night or longer... I'd say the only thing that could be improved would be to have an internet connexion available to the campers since there's no cell service up there (well I didn't have any I don't know about other people!). Dawn offered to let me use their personal connexion inside the house but I stayed only a few minutes as I didn't want to intrude.
If you don't absolutely need a connexion like I do (I work online) I'd say this is a nice secluded place to disconnect for a few days actually!
As Arnold said... "Ill be back" ????

  • Dawn was an awesome host ! She gave us great indications to find the place and was very welcoming. It’s a great place to stay, there is lots of place and it’s very calm and peaceful.
We recommand this beautiful host !
    Thank You :)
