Description

A site dedicated exclusively to welcoming hikers and bikers.
We offer a small camping site in our modest garden to hikers and bikers.
We're also regular users of the HomeCamper platform on our bike tours across France.
Seduced by the concept, we now offer cyclocampers the possibility of a stopover in Le Havre, where all camping facilities have disappeared.
We'd like to emphasize the very limited space available for pitching a tent.
This will suit tents with 2 or 3 places for trekking, in order to have a flat space.
So this is a stop-gap option for a short stopover in Le Havre. We're just 5 minutes from the Eurovelo 4 route.

The setting

Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005, Le Havre boasts distinctive architecture and a seafront offering a wide range of water sports.
The city is spread over 2 geographical areas: Ville Basse (Lower Town), the city center with its small shops, restaurants, bars, beach and port, and Ville Haute (Upper Town), a residential area with small local shops and large shopping malls.
We are located in the upper town of Le Havre, less than 5 minutes from the cycle path leading along the coast to Etretat, FECAMP, DIEPPE... Euro vélo 4 itinerary.

The spots

As mentioned above, the space available is modest.
The "Flat" area is located against the house, 10 m long and 4 m wide (see photos).
The lawn is planted with a few flowers and trees.
The plot is protected by a neighboring hedge.
The plot faces due south.
No shade, but can be protected by a large parasol.
Access is via the garage, where bicycles can be stored along with our own.

The sanitary facilities

To welcome you in the best conditions in relation with the COVID, we privatize on the ground floor of our house, a sanitary for our guests including a large shower, a toilet and a small washbasin.
This space is available over a wide range of hours (WC accessible at night, shower usable at reasonable times :) ).

The amenities

You can choose to share our meal with a financial contribution (12 euros for a full meal).
Bike repair service with loan of repair equipment.
Possibility of charging laptop and VAE batteries.

The activities

Activities are mainly focused on tourism to visit the city, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2005.

Other things

We open our site during a limited period of the year, mainly March, April, May, June and I September, outside the school year, as we ourselves are on the road by bike during these periods.
We are non-smoking, but we are flexible if you smoke outside and take the usual precautions to dispose of cigarette butts.

If you'd like to share a meal or breakfast, we'll be happy to offer you an affordable formula to suit your wishes and tastes.

Rules

No hotels, campsites or restaurants, just the same simple things we enjoy ourselves on our cycling trips.
Arrival and departure times will be defined together when we make contact.
We speak English.
In case of bad weather, we can accommodate you in a room.

  • Excellent welcome, Philippe and Sonia are adorable and very attentive. Their house is pleasant and quiet. Thank you

  • We spent a very good night at Philippe and Sonia's. We were very well received (hot drink and fruit by Philippe and history of the city of Le Havre by Sonia). The breakfast is copious with fresh bread and squeezed orange juice. I recommend this host. Thank you for everything

  • For us first reception with homecamper, and really we were received in an incredible way, we could exchange on our passion of the bicycle trip and other subjects...
The shared dinner was also great.
Lovely hosts that we would like to receive at home, when you pass by Le Havre, no hesitation, go to Philippe and Sonia's place.

  • Philippe and Sonia were a great meeting, very sympathetic, they trusted us very easily and dropped us off in Le Havre when necessary, at the top!

  • Philippe was very welcoming with us and quickly put us at ease regarding the use of the common areas and made sure that we could have permanent access to them (the bathroom was even privatized to us).
We were also able to put our bikes in the garage.
Our exchanges were particularly pleasant and we will not hesitate to come back if the opportunity arises.
