Description

Come have a quirky stay at The Tamarind Tree Permaculture Farmstay! It is an old farm more than 200 years old *rustic* charm which we are slowly renovating using traditional and ecological materials. We are also working to improve our soil quality for planting a food forest for us and nature as well. Those who wish to live in harmony with wild plants and animals and explore the forest will be in their element. It is not your average tourist holiday but a wonderful experience living communally with mother nature as the perfect host. We host only those who are genuinely interested in what we are doing here with a minimum of 2 nights stay.

The setting

We are located in the southern part of the Forest of Fontainebleau, 1 hour from Paris. Our village is surrounded by wheat farmland, with wild and trailed forests 10 minute car drive away. It's very quiet here - except for the chickens and children haha

The spots

We have a dedicated campsite in the back of our micro garden with tables and fireplace shaded by trees. In rainy season or with large camper vans we offer our front courtyard.
We also rent private rooms and independent guesthouse.

The sanitary facilities

We love nature, and we want to respect it to it's fullest so we are 100% dry toilet

The amenities

It is possible to charge your phones. Water access is by a faucet near our home.
We do ask for a donation for using electricity for campervan heater and using our firewood - give what you think is fair.
You are free to make a fire, we have wood and barbecue pans and tools. Please be safe and clean. We are a vegetarian house, if you choose to bbq meat please do so respectfully.
And we also love to provide our farm fresh breakfast at 10e/person.

The activities

You are more than welcome to enjoy the gardens, hang out with the chickens, or even if you want, help out on the farm. We are transitioning to an ecological lifestyle so we have many alternative lifestyle systems in development if you are curious. The Forest of Fontainebleau is a treasure of activities - of course rock climbing, hiking, biking trails, but also secret deserts and beaches. The nearby Loing river has swimming, kayak, and stand up paddle opportunities.

Other things

Since you are coming here to camp, please be self sufficient in terms of transportation, cooking, washing dishes, etc. If you need to use our kitchen, consider a donation

Dogs are welcome for additional 15e paid in advance or on arrival. They need be on a leash as we have other animals & a vegetable garden.

Rules

We are easy going people but please respect our home as we have children and neighbors.

Smoking is tolerated but please put your waste in a container and dispose of it properly in the trash.

Parents should spend time with their children in the garden to respect the plants and animals together.

Mahalo!

Extras

Possibility of breakfast (€10 / person)

We are super proud of the “cuisine intuitive vegi’monde” we offer. Everything is organic, local, seasonal and what we got growing on the farm. and homemade with love. Breakfast is typically our homemade bread, museli, jams, and sometimes pancakes waffles eggs and fruit. Join our lunch with our volunteers, or enjoy a special dinner of wild edibles we foraged - the menu is never the same!

  • We had a great stay in the garden of Jason's farm, it's a little haven of peace, the kids loved it!

  • Simply A PLACE TO BE!

  • With a heartwarming welcome by Jason and his family, I spend a wonderful two night with my friends in his house / properties.
We had the experience of sharing of ideas and food, definitely I will back.

  • We spent an exceptional weekend at Jason and Martine's house.
They have a magnificent garden with a rich and varied planting. Chickens that give great eggs (eaten with breakfast) and very cute frogs.
The couple was very nice with us, they received us at their place, they made us discover their way of living and consuming that vegetarian. We left with zero stress and the desire to review our food consumption ...
The setting is just beautiful, birds that wake you up in the morning and the pure air that purifies your lungs and soul.
We also left with an organic basket at a very reasonable price and with home-made products.
Thank you for this wonderful experience.

  • We stayed at Jason's for the second time. As before, everything was perfect! Jason and his family are excellent hosts. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

  • I can hardly put it in words.. it was INCREDIBLE!! You know, sometimes you find yourself at a crossroad in life. Or maybe you look for meaning in your life or even just a direction.. I wasn’t even aware that I was at such a point, but the stay at The Tamarind Tree, at Martin and Jason‘s home, gave me a perspective I didn’t know I needed so desperately. Their love and compassion for all life around them is just so inspiring. It grabs you and you just wanna know more, see more and learn more. When I first read the description of the place, I was hooked immediately and they exceeded every expectation! It was great to see things „in action“ (gardening, water saving solutions such as dry toilets and bicycle-powered washing machines, reusing/up-cycling of materials etc etc). So it’s not just “a” place to stay-it’s like your home away from home :) Thank you so much to all of you from the bottom of our hearts! (And thank you June and Cali for being excellent little hosts and good friends of our little girls now!)

  • It was a very gratifying and pleasant experience staying with Jason and Martin. Both made the stay fun as well as a good learning experience on the basics of sustainable lifestyles. I hope I have the opportunity to return soon.

  • Our stay was very pleasant and our children played well together.
Jason was a friendly host and his breakfasts were delicious.

  • Our stay at Jason and his family was really lovely! They were easy going and totally friendly hosts. If you are looking for a place to stay which is close to nature camping but with a toilet and a shower, you should stay here!

  • Jason and his family had set up a beautiful vegetable garden in the middle of which we camped. We were able to use the bathroom in the house, which was very comfortable (and very clean). The family is very welcoming and gave us a lot of tips on how to climb in the Fontainebleau forest. The dinner with the family was very nice and very good too. We recommend it!

  • An incredible family, adorable children, and a little haven of peace to surround all these beautiful people with whole and caring personalities... Martine, Jason, Jude and Cali are simply inspiring ....

  • Outstanding! Jason is a sweetheart and his conversation is very enriching. I'm thinking of coming back one day!

  • Although we just had a short stay, Jason and family have been amazing hosts! Even helped us to get a COVID test certificate very short-notice, as the travel regulations changed within 48 hours from our government. Very lovely place, and all made with love and respect for Mother Nature. If more people would behave like Jason and family the world would be a nice placer. We also used the guest kitchen and toilet, which have been very clean. Had a chance to go bouldering in the amazing forests of Fontainebleau. Thanks for the chance renting your crashpad! Next time I will stay longer! All the best! Take care & stay healthy!

  • We never arrived, several breakdowns, sick child, no phone.

  • Very quiet and pleasant setting! Jason and his family are very friendly and were kind enough to show us their permaculture farm.

  • Amazing! We are very thankful for the opportunity to stay, visit and explore. This place is a treasure, access to the forests, farmers, great hosts and more. We look forward to our next visit. Thank you to our new friends for hosting us, we look forward to seeing your garden grow!

  • We had a pleasant stay at Jason's place. Don't expect a lawn but rather a flowery meadow: Jason explained us with passion the management of his micro-farm garden. Good atmosphere with the other residents...

  • Lovely and welcoming people, a little corner of paradise in the quiet.

  • If you feel nostalgic about camping in the 60's, then don't hesitate, go camping at Jason's. Rustic setting, farmhouse atmosphere, ecological comfort and very friendly owner.
Be careful, access is a bit narrow for caravans.

  • It was great !
    Truly Nice and relax :-)

  • A great time at Jason and his family's house in every way: beautiful ecofarm, beautiful places to discover in the Fontainebleau forest and delicious meals. I can't forget to mention the kindness and generosity of this couple.
    Thank you for this moment!

  • The entire HomeCamper team was delighted with their day at Jason and Martine's house, who made us feel very welcome.
This is the type of trip that makes you travel without racking up the miles.
A HomeCamper trip par excellence with all that goes with it: simplicity, authenticity and conviviality.
One foot in the modern world, the other in nature as Jason promised us.
We are already looking forward to coming back and we can only recommend you to other travelers because we are sure they will have an unforgettable time with you.
We look forward to seeing you again!

  • Very nice welcome and magnificent life project that Jason and his nice family have.

  • Incredible family, as if we were finally at home! Jason is a wizard. we were treated to craft tea and coffee, tasted homemade real food. I slept like a baby, in the garden our peace was guarded by chickens wandering around.
warm and cosmic people, I wish you health, happiness ^-^ ^-^
