Outstanding-
A wonderful human experience!
Maria was very responsive to our requests, including the exact location, as the address is shared by various places in the area.
She waited for us on the first evening until 10pm, everything was ready and in excellent condition. A superb bathroom is provided, the mattress used for the tent is a real matela and not an inflatable. The tent is spacious, with an entrance and a bedroom.
As for the grounds, there's a wide variety of vegetation (flowers, plants, fruit and vegetables...) and if you like animals this is the place to be.
The site is about twenty minutes from Nazaré by car, or by public transport from the center of Alcobaca (during school holidays only).
Maria and her husband are extremely friendly and kind. They invited us to give with them, and dropped off breakfast in the morning (hot bread from the bakery and pastries). She also dropped us off by car in Nazaré when we realized that the buses were unavailable outside school hours.
It was an excellent experience and we'll be happy to come back if we pass through the area again. -
Maria's house is ideally located for a stopover between Porto and Lisbon. We visited the seaside resort of Nazaré and its Surf Museum. Maria made us feel very welcome, and the evening with its view of the mountains was very pleasant. The little shower area is well equipped. We were her first home campers, and Maria explained that she hadn't finished laying out the site, which is a bit uneven. Indeed, only a small flat area had been prepared for our 4-person tent, but it was enough. Maria has a beautiful garden, a magnificent Bougainvillea and takes good care of her little companions (ducks, chickens, goats, cat and her 3 dogs). We were well looked after, as if we were on a real farm camping. We'll remember her generosity and the wonderful conversation we had. When we left, she entrusted us with a beautiful harvest of caviar lemons, a fantastic discovery and a real pleasure to taste!
