Description

An abundant and environmentally friendly permaculture micro-farm in the Chevreuse Valley.
Numerous hikes in the vicinity.

The setting

We are in the countryside.
Two kilometers from the train and the National road 12.
Around us, fields, 55 hectares of forest, a pond and next to the farm, the magnificent castle of Artoire (private but visible from the parking of the farm).

The spots

It is the old dovecote of the farm reorganized in small independent housing.
It contains 5 beds/mattresses on the floor like a dormitory.
It is a bit rustic but quite habitable and allows you to visit the region in a natural setting.
A superb 360 degree view on the castle, the fields, the farm and the village.
It is not a luxury accommodation but you will find everything you need.
The accommodation is rented in its entirety, so the dormitory room is at your disposal.
For less than 5 days on the spot, please come with your comforter (for ecological reasons) and your toiletries (avoiding non biodegradable products to respect the environment and the septic tank).

The sanitary facilities

There is a shower and a toilet in the apartment. These toilets are independent. The shower is in the room.
It will be necessary to agree with your friends to take it quietly.
If you are more than 3 people and need access to other toilets, we have others at your disposal, at no extra cost.

The amenities

Kitchen with two hotplates and all the basic utensils for cooking.
No oven or microwave.
For ecological reasons, for less than a week's rental I ask you to bring sheets, a sleeping bag or towels.
A double bunk bed, two single beds with box springs and an extra mattress are available.
Sheets are not provided. If this is really not possible for you, I can of course lend you some.

The activities

Possibility to have lunch with our farm products. Possible visit of Paris (35 km, 50 min by train), of the Versailles castle and its gardens (23km, 25 min by train), Rambouillet nature area and its wild animals and birds of prey, charming villages (Montfort l'Amaury, Cernay Abbey etc.), chevreuses, visit of the Rambouillet forest, its museum and its castle, other farms with their direct sales, hiking, horse riding centers, ponds with bathing in the summer and fishing, bicycle path.

Other things

Possibility to visit the permaculture farm, there are also some farm animals to see and feed, plants to discover and you can participate in the milking of goats. Visit from Tuesday to Saturday between 16:30 and 18:30.
This guided tour lasts about an hour. 9 euros per person for 2 or more people (5 euros for children and additional people), to be paid by check or cash. (No credit card)
Visit and brunch available from mid-May to the end of August.

Rules

THE CONDITIONS :
The farmhouse is located in a rural area, 2 kilometers from the train (line N Paris - Montparnasse) which allows you to go to many different places in France.
The arrival is at 6:30 pm and the departure is to be agreed upon according to your travel schedule.
ATTENTION: there are several water points on the domain, they are not fenced so you will have to be careful with children and animals.
Parties are not allowed until late because we have neighbors.

Extras

Possibility of breakfast (€13 / person)

Tuesday to Saturday from 8:30 to 10:30 am.
We offer a local sweet and savory breakfast (95% of the products are organic and produced at the farm). It consists of a slice of fresh cheese topped with thin slices of raw seasonal vegetables with an egg in cream sauce and curry (it stings a little) + a local hot drink (herbal tea from the garden) + a yogurt with the jam of the moment + a muffin or a fruit tartlet (with the jam and fruits of the moment).

Possibility to order a picnic (vegetable-cheese-egg-mayo sandwich) for 8 euros

  • We came with a group of volunteers as part of an itinerant stay around heritage and ecology. We had a great experience at the Fermette de l'Artoire.
