Description

Very green garden, enclosed by walls, allowing you to pitch a few tents for a pleasant stay.

The setting

In the heart of a hamlet and 2 kilometers from the sea, the land is close to two farms. The land belongs to an association that runs an agricultural and cultural third-place, comprising a gîte, an auditorium and, soon, an associative bar-café and a shared workspace. The association regularly organizes agricultural and cultural activities and environmental and social transition events.

The spots

There are 3 grassy, flat, easily accessible pitches with vegetation available.

The sanitary facilities

As the pitches are in the garden of a gîte, campers can take advantage of a shower room and toilet in the immediate vicinity of the gîte. Access is possible 24 hours a day.

The amenities

As a camper, you can use the communal areas of the gîte d'étape/coliving area, including a large kitchen, dining room and living room. You can cook your own meals or share a table with other residents.
Electricity is not available on the pitches, but an extension cord can be installed if required. In the gîte, you can recharge your phone or other device, use the fridges, etc.

The activities

The association offers regular agricultural and cultural activities. You can also take advantage of two farms (organic breeding and market gardening) for a farm stay.
Situated in the middle of the Normandy landing beaches, just a few minutes from the port of Port-en-Bessin or the medieval town of Bayeux, you can enjoy the Bessin in a privileged way. Numerous hiking trails are accessible from the gîte, and bicycles are available for use on site.

Other things

You will also have to pay the tourist tax of 0.70€ per person per night. This compulsory tax is managed by the intercommunal tourist office and does not accrue to us.

Rules

The garden is a place shared with the gîte's residents, so the number of tents is limited to 3 to allow for different activities while respecting everyone's peace and quiet.
Smoking is prohibited indoors, and we ask everyone to respect the rules of life, which will be explained to you by the volunteer who will welcome you.

Extras

Tent rental is also available. We have a 2-seater tent that you can pitch on arrival and dismantle on departure.
Price: €5

  • Great place to pitch your tent on a Normandy beach getaway!
Great welcome, great concept, I'll be back...

  • Very friendly place and very attentive hosts. Highly recommend.

  • A polite welcome, at the very least...however, I was told to come 1 hour before the initial indicated time and told at the last minute!
The site is certainly functional, but I'm disappointed because the D6 road carries traffic that can be very noisy, even late at night. And the campsite is right next to the road, so you don't get the chance to immerse yourself in the peace and quiet of nature.
The presence of a nearby farm with a cattle ranch also means that the smells are not very pleasant when you're sleeping in your tent.
The plus point of my stay, however, was the farm's close proximity to the beaches and the many cultural, historical and entertainment activities on offer during the summer months, as well as the nearby town of Bayeux.

  • We loved it! We didn't know what a third place was, but it's great!
We were out cycling. You can cook with your own ingredients or for 5€/meal, you can cook what's on the spot, and the choice is great! In particular, unsold vegetables from the organic farm, and fresh eggs too.
We meet up at the table with other guests in tents or dormitories... A great experience! We recommend +++

  • A warm welcome from Arélien.
We enjoyed a convivial evening in the kitchen with the other guests.

  • What a great state of mind in this place, where trust reigns and the desire to do the right thing for the planet and its inhabitants! We really REALLY enjoyed our stay there, and highly recommend it! Thank you Aurélien!

  • Disappointed with this evening and night. Very little exchange, impossible to get any information (garbage can and others) we had the impression of disturbing at times. Almost nobody was on the site, so it was very quiet even though the road was nearby. Sanitary facilities nearby kitchen dining room living room available.

  • A very warm welcome and some very pleasant encounters, with the possibility of visiting the farm and the market gardens. We were satisfied with our night at "l'arbre".

  • We feel welcomed, exchanges and friendly and benevolent meetings.

  • Little piece of paradise on the farm! Thank you for everything.

  • Very beautiful place, very easy to access and at the crossroads of many centers of interest.
We stopped there during our cycling trip. We were very well welcomed by Aurélien.
The place is very functional and well maintained.
    We will come back

  • It was difficult to find the address because 2 streets of the same name in the same town, but it is only a little compared to the reception of Aurelien, these details on the association the TREE, because here, the great values are of setting: The sharing, the help, the discovery... all this in a context of the simplest! Congratulations to the team!

  • Very good experience at the l'arbre tiers lieu. A dynamic association with strong values centered on environmental principles. The place is very quiet, perfect for sleeping.

  • Great place for coliving, nice project and allows you to pitch a tent while having access to a large kitchen to prepare food and sit around getting to know people passing by.
    Very nice!
    Thanks

  • Nice

  • Good surprise, good team of young people
    Everything is available and tidy

  • Warm welcome.
Access to products directly from the farm. Great!

  • Super welcome by a trainee of the farm and pleasant moment of sharing with the other occupants of the place. The farm is ideally located, near the coast. The only fault is the nearby road which is a bit noisy.

  • As home campers, we were looking for a place close to the D-Day beaches.
The concept of a third place was a discovery for us.
Aurélien and his volunteer sidekick gave us a very warm welcome.
Tranquility, sharing and convenience are the key words of this place. Thanks a lot!

  • L'Arbre is much more than a garden to camp in! It is above all an agri-cultural third place, a collective place, engaged at all levels in the ecological transition on its territory.
We stayed 2 weeks, were welcomed by everyone in a friendly way, and could enjoy all this beautiful energy, the farm (milk, cereals, fruits and vegetables), the gite and its collective functioning (shared meals, common kitchen), the garden of course, where we had pitched the tent.
All the people involved in the project were very available to us, including in their professional activities on the farm and at the gite...
The children went to feed the hens and collect the eggs, to harvest the potatoes, to feed the cows, to ride the tractor... :-)
And to crown it all, we were able to attend the Festival Soyons Demain, organized at the end of August by all this beautiful group and many volunteers.
Thanks to all the team and good continuation in these beautiful projects.
We will come back! And of course, we advise you with closed eyes!

  • Great stop! Very good welcome from Guillaume who took the time to show us the farm and his vegetables. As cyclists we really appreciated having access to a fully equipped kitchen and a fridge and the breakfast offer. A very good moment of conviviality. And a great location between the beaches and Bayeux. We recommend without hesitation!
