Description

We live on the outskirts of Bordeaux, 800 meters from the Bordeaux/Lacanau cycle path.

Saint Médard is the last major town on the way to the ocean and ideally situated for visiting the Médoc and the whole region (Bordeaux ring road 2 km away).

We'll be delighted to welcome cyclists en route to the ocean and the Vélodyssée or to Bordeaux, as well as other travelers.

All shops and buses to Bordeaux are 500 meters away. We are very close to Bordeaux-Mérignac airport (approx. 6 km, mainly cycle paths) and very close to the terminus of streetcar line D (approx. 3.5 km, mainly cycle paths), which runs to Bordeaux Centre and Gare St Jean. Streetcar A also nearby. At certain times, bikes can be loaded onto streetcars.

The setting

Camping in our garden, very natural and full of flowers (especially in spring). Shady. Birdsong guaranteed! Quiet, no major roads nearby.

Ample street-side parking and the option of parking in the grounds.

Water and electricity points outside.

The spots

The site is flat, grassy and shaded for part of the day and evening. It lends itself well to small tents.

We have a vegetable garden and are sensitive to the need to respect nature. In summer, the grass can be dry as we save water resources and only water the plantations.

The sanitary facilities

Inside our house, bathroom and toilet to share with us.

Recent dry toilets are also available (especially for overnight stays), as well as a washbasin in our new shelter (where you can change in complete privacy).

The amenities

Free provision of :
. table and chairs
. parasol
. mosquito netting
. deckchairs
. camping stove (please let us know in advance)
. WIFI
. extension cord to bring power to your campsite

In case of bad weather, you can shelter and eat under our covered, flower-filled pergola.

Kitchen utensils available if required.

The activities

We can provide our own table tennis table and various equipment: badminton net, molkky...

During your stopover, you can leave your bike and take the bus to visit Bordeaux, a magnificent city to discover.

Nearby TransGironde buses take you to the ocean beaches for a modest fare (€4.10 return).

Municipal swimming pool, large equestrian center, CAP 33 summer events, sand sports area, hiking, etc. in the commune.

Other things

We also welcome cycle tourists, as the cycle path is nearby.

We also welcome holidaymakers in tents for short stays.

You can leave your car in the parking lot in front of our house if, for example, you're planning a cycle tour starting in Gironde (but we don't provide storage).

Vans welcome for short stays and stages: see my other ad.

Breakfast available.

Within a 500 m radius, various catering options (restaurants, takeaways, supermarkets, bakeries, fast-food outlets, etc.).

A cycle store is located 500 m away (sales and repairs), as is the cycle department of the Intersport store.

For stays of more than 3 nights, please contact us.

Rules

We can store your bikes in our garage overnight. Arrival and departure times within reason.

Travelers are asked to respect the premises.

We cannot welcome travelers with dogs, as they will be incompatible with our cat and plantations.

We know the area well and will be happy to point you in the right direction.

Extras

Possibility of breakfast (€6 / person)

Tea, coffee, fruit juice, hot chocolate, bread, jam, honey, and sometimes, depending on my availability, my famous cannelés and/or homemade waffles.

  • Thank you for the warm welcome and the apples...
Super stay where I really felt good

  • Isabelle and her family are super friendly and sympathic. I enjoyed my stay very much :) Anytime again. Thank you for having been so helpful!

  • We spent a very nice night at Isabelle's place. The welcome was very pleasant and Isabelle was very attentive to our needs.

  • Isabelle and her husband were very helpful and did everything they could to ensure that I had a pleasant night's sleep despite the threatening weather.

  • A lovely couple of beautiful people
Thank you for your warm welcome, for the little touches you gave me sometimes and every day.
It will be a real pleasure to see you again on the occasion of a new stay if the opportunity arises!
Everything was perfect, thank you very much!
    See you soon I hope

  • I can't recommend enough to our friends campers to come and share this moment of well being with Isabelle and her husband who are very careful with us.
I had a great time in an ideal setting. Too bad I couldn't ride a bike but it will be for sure for the next time.
Thank you again for your help.

  • Isabelle and her family welcomed me very well. Isabelle had anticipated a lot of little touches (for example, moving the small table closer to my car) and was available and attentive. I will come back with pleasure

  • Isabelle was super nice, I could use everything in the garden (clothesline, tables use.). A bus ticket was provided for me by her daughter. Had it rained I could have camped under the patio roof.
However, the large number of mosquitoes somewhat annoying. Overall, nevertheless, 5 stars.

  • We had a great time with Isabelle and her family, and took advantage of her advice to visit the region. Her house is ideally located near the veloroute and in a quiet area. The + : the dry toilets. Don't hesitate to book your tent.

  • We - 2 bikepackers from Germany - were allowed to stay 3 nights with Isabelle and could thus make our first experience with HomeCamper and see Bordeaux in peace. We were already expected when we drove with our bikes in front of the driveway. Isabelle greeted us warmly and gave us a short briefing on her garden, which we were allowed to use entirely for ourselves.
She generously offered us many things over the course of the 3 days and even when we arrived she had a bug spray ready and cold fresh water for us. A table with chairs and a said mosquito net (including anti-mosquito lamp) were waiting for us to be put into use, which we were happy about. We could use the shower in the house every day and even taste raspberries from the garden. We were also treated to freshly cooked apricot jam and a highlight was being able to pet and play with the 3 week young baby cat.
We are very grateful for this experience and for Isabelle's hospitality. We felt safe and in good hands. :)))

  • Traveler by bike
    Installation according to the description
Very good welcome I even enjoyed the vegetables from the garden
    Nice and quiet garden

  • Great welcome especially since the host helped us out while she was on vacation.
    Perfect place, calm and quiet.

  • Superb reception by Isabelle! Very cute and quiet little garden, we recommend!

  • I will keep an unforgettable memory of Isabelle and her kindness of soul... With her kindness and beautiful details like a small dish with peeled and cut apples, a glass of flowers, the table, the chair and her beautiful company to put me on the road to the Atlantic coast... Thank you to the universe for allowing me to meet such wonderful beings!!!

  • Isabelle and Pierre-Yves (and their neighbors!) are absolutely adorable. A beautiful experience, a wonderful meeting, people who listen and are of a rare kindness. Thank you again for your welcome.

  • A first experience more than successful! Isabelle is an incredible hostess! We couldn't have dreamed of anything better for a first time! Ultra friendly, caring, eager to meet our needs, we felt like at home! We also met other members of the family just as welcoming! The services are as indicated in the ad and Isabelle even provided us with chairs/tables for dinner, a place to read... We were lucky enough to find a party night and were able to share an aperitif! Thank you Isabelle for this warm moment and see you soon on the roads in van!

  • We had a great stay in Bordeaux. Isabelle and her family were very welcoming and attentive to our needs. We left with lots of good memories! A huge thank you for your welcome!

  • Our last stop before flying back to Bordeaux. Very warm welcome. Very nice garden. Thank you again for your hospitality.

  • Excellent stay with Isabelle! Very warm welcome despite a 1h35 delay! We were even able to sleep in their house because it was raining and we had very good croissants for breakfast! Pleasant and easy discussion.
I highly recommend this address, just a step away from the Vélodyssée.
