Fall asleep under the myriad of stars, lulled by the song of the torrent, which an owl may accompany with its mysterious hooting... Rediscover the calm and tranquility of a sleep as close to the wild world as possible and far from any pollution....

The organic medicinal plant farm of Castel Tournou welcomes travelers all year round in its large yurt and from June to October on its camping area, in a wild preserved natural setting at an altitude of 1.200m, for a total change of scenery.

The access is done on foot from the village of Tende and requires 2 to 3 hours. You can save 45 minutes by going to the end of the road of La Pia and parking at the barns of La Pia. There is 400m of positive difference in altitude, on a very beautiful marked path.

For stays of 3 days or more, it is possible to bring your belongings and food supplies in a 4x4.

On reservation, I can prepare your meals with a majority of organic and local products.

The setting

The yurt is spacious and bright. It is located at the edge of a shaded undergrowth and bordered by the river and its waterfalls. View on the forest and the surrounding mountains.

The spots

Large and bright yurt. Equipped with an independent kitchen and a wood stove, it offers comfort and calm in any season, all in a wild environment for a total change of scenery.

The sanitary facilities

Dry toilets and solar showers are available for travelers, as well as a small sink. Hot water depends on the sunshine.

There are also many accesses to the river and its beautiful waterfalls and basins, for refreshing swims.

Non-organic hygiene products (soaps, shampoos...) are strictly forbidden on the farm.

The amenities

The yurt is fully equipped for cooking. There is electricity for small everyday uses, such as light and cell phone charging.

It is also possible to make a fire (except in dry periods).

Internet access is available (SFR and Bouygues).

The activities

I can show you around the farm and tell you about the medicinal plants and the daily life in an isolated mountain place. Free and conscious participation.

Occasional or experienced hikers will be able to walk the many trails around the farm, which is an ideal stopover point: you can discover the picturesque hamlet of Refrei, climb Mount Bertrand (2,484m) and its breathtaking panorama, discover the dreamlike landscapes of the karstic massif of Marguareis in the company of chamois and marmots or go swimming under the waterfall of Roueou with its tropical charm...

For canyoning enthusiasts, the river running alongside the farm is a very beautiful course, with beautiful waterfalls and some abseils.

There are many mountain activities in the Roya valley: hiking, canyoning, paragliding, climbing, horseback riding or donkey rides...
The archeological site of Les Merveilles, overhung by the Mont Bégo, is also a must in the valley.

Other things

The site is isolated and accessible only by foot. Bring your own food or think about reserving your meals (15€ per person / 10€ under 13 years old)!

For stays of 3 days or more, it is possible to bring your food supplies in a 4x4.

Rules

The yurt is located in a very rich and fragile ecological area. It is therefore forbidden to use non-biological products (soaps, shampoos, washing-up liquid...).

The yurt is non-smoking.

During the dry season, fires are not allowed.

Friendly dogs are accepted.
