Description

Hello, fellow travelers! We're Déborah and Philippe, two passionate hikers and travelers. Home-campers ourselves, we'd be delighted to welcome you in our tent or van (we can't accommodate camper vans) for one or more days' vacation in the Hautes-Pyrénées.
Our property, an old mill, is located at the foot of the Pyrenees, on the Lannemezan plateau and at the gateway to the Baronnies and the Aure valley. Our homestay campsite is on the V81 (Véloroute du piémont Pyrénéen).
Thanks to Philippe's experience as a mountain guide, we'll be able to advise you on the best visits and activities in our region, as well as on hikes suited to your level and interests.

The setting

We welcome you to our 2-hectare wooded grounds, surrounded by nature, in the heart of which nestles a small lake.
A river runs through the property.
Away from the village (access by a 500-meter-long communal road), we have no direct neighbors.
You'll be surrounded by woods and meadows in a calm and relaxing natural environment.

The spots

Choose your pitch according to your preferences, either in the shade of our large oak trees or a sunnier spot.
Our sites are very quiet and peaceful, either by the river or the small lake. With a bit of luck, you'll certainly be able to spot some wildlife on our grounds: squirrels, hares, foxes, deer...

The sanitary facilities

A separate bathroom is at your disposal.

The amenities

On the grounds, "La Cabane" is available for meals. This open shelter is equipped with a table and chairs.
We also offer you the living room of our old mill, where you can take your meals in case of bad weather or simply for your own pleasure. You'll find a sink with hot water, a bar area for aperitifs, crockery, a large table and chairs, a documentation area for organizing your stay, and a fireplace for chilly evenings.
Electricity available on pitches (€3 supplement per day).

The activities

The village hiking trail passes right in front of our gate. This easy trail is also accessible by mountain bike.
Fishermen, don't forget your tackle (and your fishing permit), as the river runs through the campsite.
Our homestay campsite is on the V81 (Véloroute du piémont Pyrénéen).
In the immediate vicinity, you'll find :
- Les Ôcybelles, the natural and organic swimming pool in Saint-Laurent de Neste with its 800m2 pool.
- The Maison du Savoir in Saint-Laurent de Neste is a cultural center offering shows, films, exhibitions, conferences, a media library and socio-cultural activities.
- The Mont Ares monastery and calvary, a temple dedicated to Ares, is built at the foot of the hill.
- The N'Co Park adventure park, in the heart of an 8-hectare forest, offers more than 140 games from 1 to 15 metres high and 1.5 km of zip lines! Courses for all ages!
- Parc de loisirs de la Demi-Lune: Pedalos, educational farm, bubble water, zip line, ponies, tree climbing, trampolines...
- The hilltop village of Saint-Bertrand de Comminges, a major stopover on the pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela, is listed as "France's most beautiful village", with its famous Cathédrale Sainte-Marie.
- The Gargas caves, visited 27,000 years ago by men who left many traces of their passage, and the Nestploria digital and prehistoric center, which complements the visit to the caves.
- Le gouffre d'Esparros, a veritable underground garden to be discovered during a sound and light tour. This site is exceptional for the variety and profusion of its concretions, particularly aragonite.
- The Labastide Prehistory Centre, where you can discover the life, culture and mysterious art of our ancestors. You'll learn how to survive in prehistoric times, how to build a primitive fire, how to use lighting and how to hunt with an assegai, before being introduced to the secrets of cave art.
- The Château de Mauvezin offers a 360° view from its keep. A majestic panorama of the Pyrenees!
- The Abbey de l'Escaladieu is located in a wooded valley in the Baronnies, close to two spa towns, Capvern and Bagnères-de-Bigorre. The magic of the place and the purity of the architecture are an invitation to serenity and travel.
- Les Thermes Edenvik in Capvern. In a Nordic-style setting of stone and sculpted wood, the 120 m² thermoludic pool is fed by the spring at a temperature of 34°C.
- Château de Montoussé: From the top of the hill "Le Monts aux Ours", the remains of the castle offer a magnificent view of the Neste Valley, the Pyrenees and the Lannemezan Plateau.
- The Maison des Sources, in the Barousse Valley, is an eco-museum. Departure for walks to château de Bramevaque and gouffre de saoule (1 h 00 round trip each).

A little further afield, discover the Baronnies, the Aure valley which runs towards Spain, the great mythical passes (Aspin, Peyresourde, Azet, Tourmalet...), the Néouvielle nature reserve, the Campan valley at the foot of the Pic du Midi de Bigorre, Lourdes, Gavarnie, Cauterets...

Other things

Arrivals are generally from 4 pm. Depending on our working hours, we may be able to welcome you earlier. We'll discuss this with you when you book.

Rules

We ask you, by your behavior, to respect the peace and quiet of the site.

Given the presence of numerous water sources (river, small dam, canal and reservoir, lake) and the dangers that such an environment represents, we ask you to exercise the utmost vigilance if you come with children.

Due to the presence of large numbers of wild animals, whose tranquillity we wish to guarantee, we regret that we are unable to welcome our dog friends.

Depending on weather conditions, and with the owner's agreement, a (small) campfire is possible.

Smokers, we thank you for smoking outside and for not throwing your cigarette butts on the site.

Extras

Tent ready

We can lend you two-seater tents.
