Description

The land is located at an altitude of 500 meters, at the foot of Foia, (highest point of the Algarve at 902 meters).
The Via Algarvianna (a 2-week marked hike, which passes through Foia) is 2km from our land.
Please note that the access to the land is by foot, 7 minutes walk from the M1067 road, the path to our land is only passable for 4x4! (or the old cars you don't care about anymore :-D)

The setting

The particularity of our place is the deep calm that reigns there linked to our very isolated situation.
No neighborhood, no road near the buildings, minimal noise and visual pollution, perfect for stargazing!
The 2 hectare site is in the middle of eucalyptus trees, and has been cleared of eucalyptus trees to favor native vegetation, based on: arbutus, chestnut trees, cork oaks.

The spots

Only 3000 m2 are shaped as terraces and allow the installation of tents.
Most of the pitches are located between 2 olive trees.
The shade is light and not permanent during the day.
Most of the pitches are only accessible by foot.

The sanitary facilities

You will have access to our sanitary facilities, a dry toilet and a rustic bathroom are available (currently under construction but fully functional).
Hot water only in the shower, and when the sun has been on duty during the day.

The amenities

The place does not have internet.

No fridge on site, a large (email hidden)Some dishes and pots and pans available (vegetarian cooking only! Please do not cook meat during your stay)
Electrical outlets are available for charging cell phones and other electronic devices.

The activities

Several hiking trails accessible on foot.
Guided Afghan walk possible on request.
Beach at about 45 minutes by car.

Other things

Extreme vigilance is required during the dry period of the year in order to avoid forest fires, which are common in our region.
Some years it is also possible that water restrictions are necessary between June and September (limited shower time).

Rules

If your dog is well trained and does not disturb you with his barking, he can stay with you as long as he is kept on a leash on the property as we have an old cat and a nice rabbit running around.

**Your hygiene products (soap, shampoo, toothpaste, sunscreen...) must ABSOLUTELY be organic, quickly and completely biodegradable, WITHOUT perfumes, because the water is rejected in nature. You can use our shampoo/shower if necessary.

We kindly ask you to avoid smoking in the common areas.

Bringing and consuming alcohol on the grounds is not possible.

Departure at 12:00 at the latest on your last day.

From 11pm onwards, calm and silence are required to respect the rest of everyone.

Extras

Possibility of breakfast (€6 / person)

Basket of fresh fruits, local nuts (pecans, almonds), home-made dried fruits, infusions from the garden (verbena, mint, thyme, rosemary), honey.
Buckwheat bread with natural leaven, only if your reservation is made at least 3 days before.

We do not have coffee or tea, but you can bring your own (hot water available).

Excellent

  • Marie's place is perfect for those who are looking for days of relax in the nature.
    The setting is a bit remote but very fascinating in terms of architetture and lifestyle.
    Hot water and dry toilet were very well built and clean.
    Marie was verry kind in guiding us in a half day trekking in the mountains of Monchique region.
    Above all we loved the atmosphere of the house and playing cards with her daughter.
