Description

Built-in the late 1940s as a three-season hunting and fishing lodge Elk Lodge hosted many family vacations on its 20 acres of high pasture plateau up at 9,200 feet within the Carson National Forest. The plateau and surrounding hillsides are populated by Elk, deer, bears, mountain lions, coyotes, and bobcats and the Rio Pueblo headwaters flow through the property chockfull of brown and rainbow trout. There also is a horse coral, stables, and tack room on the lower/back level of the property by the stream. Over the course of the next 60 years, the property has transferred time three times and has also been known as "Walton's Mountain" and "Tejas Mountain Lodge." Now owned by former property manager Stephen G. Barr , retired real estate broker, appraiser & developer, and social media publisher with plans for complete renovation and expansion to include nightly vacation rentals, glamping sites reactivation of the stables, EV charging station, and a yet-to-be determined type food service.
