We are a welcoming and discreet family of 2 (a single mother and a child) with two large doggies (beaucerons). After having organized our vacations thanks to HomeCamper, we decided to become hosts ourselves, in order to offer travelers a peaceful place to stay.
You'll be able to stay in your own tent (or ours, which is pretty outdated, or in the garden shed if you prefer (extra charge of 10 euros)).
Please note: €10 supplement/booking per night during Armada.
The setting
Come and enjoy a place that's both in town and in the country, in our south-facing garden with trees. There's a bit of noise, but you don't notice it any more (expressway and train nearby), and I have a henhouse (no rooster) so you can hear the chickens a bit. We also have a fish pond for relaxation (the second is under construction).
Situated in the long valleys, there are some great hiking trails in the forest, which we'd be delighted to show you.
There are also shops and supermarkets nearby (15min max on foot).
The spots
Tents can be pitched in the sun or in the shade of apple trees or weeping willows. You can even sleep in the garden shed, if you let me know in advance.
Access is easy through our gate.
The garden has fish ponds, so you need to be careful with children.
The sanitary facilities
Dry toilets are available near the garden shed.
As for the rest (kitchen, fridge, indoor toilet and shower), this can be done on request without any problem during the hours I'm present (Monday-Tuesday-Thursday-Friday from 6am to 7am and from 5pm in the evening and Wednesday-Saturday-Sunday from 9am to 11pm). It's just that I want to be present for access to the house, as my dogs are locked inside and I don't know how they would react without my presence.
The amenities
We rent the garden shed for an additional €10 per night. Please specify your request when booking, that I remove my tools stored inside.
During your stay, you will have access on request at the same times as the sanitary facilities to :
- a fridge-freezer
- a sink for your dishes
as well as all kitchen equipment (gas stove, oven, microwave, pots and pans, crockery).
In the garden, with free access, you'll find a dry toilet near the garden shed, an above-ground swimming pool and a fixed barbecue, as well as a garden table and 6 chairs.
An outside plug for recharging your telephone will be provided on arrival for easy access, as well as an extension lead to your tent.
In addition :
- 10kg washing machine for 4 (3 euros, detergent included)
Please check with us for shower times.
We do not supply towels.
You can rent :
for forest walks
- 1 men's mountain bike
- 1 boy's bike 16 inches I think (large size*teen)
The activities
At the gateway to Rouen's historic center, you'll have the pleasure of discovering the city of a hundred bell towers, the Rue du Gros Horloge, the shopping arcades, the many bars, restaurants, pubs and nightclubs, the pedestrian walkways...
Also within easy reach are Docks76 (shopping center, Gaumont cinema...), the Deville-les-Rouen swimming pool, numerous nearby equestrian centers...
All of Rouen is accessible by bus from the demi lune stop (Teor T2 direction bihorel), a 5-minute walk away. Public transport is 100% free on Saturdays throughout the Rouen area!
If you don't like the bus, I'm also 5 minutes from the Rouen train station.
For your strolls, "seaside" activities, cultural leisures or visits, you also have the Normandy coast (Honfleur with the port or the Butterfly House, Harfleur, Deauville, Trouville, the Barrière casinos...), the little village of Veules-les-Roses by the sea (prettiest village in France), Dieppe, the Roumare forest (wild boar and deer), the Parc du Bocasse, the Biotropica zoological park, the Poses leisure park with water-skiing, golf, pedal-boats, etc., the Bédanne beach (free parking), the Jumièges leisure park for a dip or for fishing, or the Clères park to get up close to pink flamingos, kangaroos, lemurs, etc.
And from June 8 to 18, 2023, the Armada
There are many more activities to choose from, but I can't think of them all.
Other things
Pets are welcome as long as they are sociable, as I myself have two large dogs (who will stay with me at all times).
Smokers are welcome, just put out the cigarettes and throw them in the garbage can.
Don't make too much noise in the evening after 10pm, as we're in a fairly quiet residential cul-de-sac.
I'm also at your disposal to show you the hiking trails if you wish.
