Description

At the foot of the Vanoise Park and at the crossroads of the GR 5; GR55; GR 57, for walkers. At the foot of the mythical great alpine passes, for cyclists and bikers.

The setting

I propose you a lawn, discreet and calm, with sanitary and shower very simple bordered of a torrent in the soft murmur for some, disturbing for others. Between my house and the nature, with a view on the mountains.
A large equipped arbour and a hut.
See pictures.

The spots

The approximate measurements of the available pitches are in the pictures.
For groups: max. 6 persons, exceptionally 8, privacy shower and sanitary not suitable.
Large families 8 or 10 people, should not be too much of a problem, except for the amount of solar hot water available.
In general there will be only you on the site, except in July and August when it is possible that for one or two nights you will have to share with holidaymakers. In any case, no more than 6 people who do not know each other. Example: 3 independent couples, or 1 family of 4 and a couple of passage, ... .
Sorry for the campers the ground is not accessible by a vehicle, for certain van, it is possible to park you on our carpark between the house and garage (if it passes in the alley, width: 2.60 m in light curve)
only a staircase or a passage will separate you from the ground.
This is not great, but possible if you use the van only for sleeping.
It's up to you !!! you are warned.

The amenities

A large hard arbor with : barbecue, fridge 80 liters, microwave, gas, cupboard to store dishes and food, (solar hot and cold water sink), table, chairs, wc, solar "beach" shower. ( naturism tolerated ).
A hut "mini tourist office" allowing you to store your material with a small sink "without hot water", a micro wave, a table and a single bed.

Electricity : 300w max "autoproduction" and internet present on the whole ground.
At the inhabitant :
(Shower if no sun, washing machine, or other ..., ask me).
Private parking for a car and trailer, (vans, the alley is narrow and a communal parking is 50 m away).
Animals accepted, from mice to horses (parking and fodder possible, stable ask me a little in advance).
A Nordic bath is available after authorization from me, (temperature and hygiene of the water).

The activities

SNCF and all types of shops in town at 7Km, (no more public transport between the land and the town since can), freeway at 4 Km, Italy at 18 Km by the Fréjus tunnel.
Numerous hikes, for an overview of the hikes: ask me for the link: (website hidden) ), mountain bike, bicycle, motorcycle, via ferrata, accrobranche are possible.
Visits of museums, forts, archeological sites... are also possible in the surroundings. Leaflets, maps and topos are available.

I generally answer you very quickly and welcome you, when you want, or after 12H, if the site is occupied before you.
Once on site, access to the site is free.

  • Very good value for money and a nice change of scenery. However, the campers' facilities are open so you should not be too modest.

  • We had a very pleasant stay. The place is calm and restful. The host was very attentive and gave us good advice and respected our desire for freedom. The hot bath, very appreciable after the hikes.

  • Gilbert was very attentive, beyond our expectations.
The location of the tent, the small typical hut, the shelter to cook / eat ... Everything was very comfortable. The must, the Nordic bath (very appreciated by the whole family).
But our host was above all very welcoming, full of anecdotes and good advice. Passionate, he knows how to share his taste for his region and his interests as a specialist in model making.
Great experience. Thank you very much for this nice welcome.

  • Nice garden with view and sound of the torrent and very well equipped. The Norwegian bath is a must after the hike. What we remember most is Gilbert's warm welcome and his precious advice on hiking. He joined us
us one day. We feel that meeting and sharing are at the heart of his values.

  • Short but nice stay at Gilbert's who gave us a nice introduction on the history of the Maurienne. The boys tell everyone that they took a shower with the water of the waterfall, beautiful invigorating experience :) see you soon to share another good moment under the stars of the mountains of Haute Maurienne! Thank you for everything Gilbert.

  • Very good stay with Gilbert! A beautiful setting with a host full of advice for the best hikes.
    We enjoyed the Norwegian bath.
We will come back with pleasure!

  • What a wonderful welcome we had at Gilbert's!
The region is sublime, the land at our disposal is perfect, the view is breathtaking, the equipment is worthy of a top campsite.
I recommend the experience of the solar shower facing the torrent, a magical moment.
Gilbert is a mine of information on the region, his advice for a walk with a puppy was judicious.
I will add just two words before concluding: Norwegian bath.

  • We had a wonderful time. Lots of beautiful walks, incredible views. Gilbert is a very helpful and kind host. He knows the area very well and gives good advice for the group. We invited him to join one of our walks and it was great. The campsite is very well equipped - everything you need. We would like to come back.

  • Our stay was just perfect. Gilbert is a very dear host who welcomed us so warmly that we felt right at home. His property is beautiful and he built a great place with kitchen, shower and toilet. All a great experience! In addition, Gilbert gave us fantastic tips on what to do in the area and as a perfect ending we were allowed in the hot tub :-) many thanks for everything, we can highly recommend the place!

  • very good stay, Gilbert is very nice and advises on the sites to visit :)

  • Gil welcomed us superbly, we made a walk with him then invited him to eat with us. We were able to try his Norwegian bath, which was very pleasant after a day of walking. Here we have spent 3 days well filled and very rewarding Gilbert is a great host that we recommend to all.

  • My stay at Gilbert's was perfect. Because of the cooler temperatures, I was able to sleep in the garden shed.
The pergola area is very nice and has everything you need to cook, including the barbecue which I also used as a brazier.
Gilbert's welcome was incredible. He gave me a lot of information about the area (which is very beautiful) and even went for a walk with me, just for fun.
I was also very interested in his DIY finds, as he knows how to do just about everything with his hands.
Gilbert, I spent 4 fantastic days with you and I thank you very much. It would be a great pleasure to come back and pitch my tent with you.
See you another time I hope.

  • Pleasant stay. Gilbert welcomes you and advises you on the walks to do and the cultural events in the area, really very practical! We shared good moments. To recommend :)

  • Very pleasant stay!

  • Exceptional! Ideal frame and environment to stay, we took as much pleasure to enjoy the place as to enjoy the surroundings. Host very available, listening and full of resources!
My best experience on this site so far!

  • Gilbert was a great host, in an idyllic setting, for a luxury camping!
He loves his mountains so much that he made us discover them from every angle, history, anecdotes and hikes, it was a real pleasure. Thank you very much for offering us such a beautiful vacation !

  • Absolutely perfect!
Gilbert is very welcoming, he took time to show us his beautiful region (which he knows perfectly), to advise us. He is a very good hiking guide, and he is very patient (fortunately, with 5 children in the high mountains)! The view when we wake up is breathtaking and there is all the necessary installation to eat well (fridge, BBQ, cupboards, big table,...). Gilbert is a talented handyman who fascinated our teenagers. We enjoyed it so much that we plan to come back! So, for all these reasons, and more, I recommend this host!

  • Discovery of the Mont Cenis with our host, an outstanding guide, attention to detail, unusual visits, adapted advice: a big THANK YOU.

  • Gilbert is very welcoming and resourceful. The place is strategic to visit, walk, climb...

  • We had a great stay in spite of the bad weather, thanks to Gilbert's very good advice! We are very grateful to him!
The facilities on the grounds are very functional!
Delighted! Thanks again to Gilbert, we will be back!
    We recommend him!

  • Great welcome from Gilbert who shares his knowledge and experience in all simplicity. He does this for the pleasure of being of service and for the love of his region and that makes all the difference! I recommend him! Thank you for everything! :)

  • Gilbert welcomed us very warmly on a well equipped site for campers! He gave us good advice and helped us out after our car broke down... Thanks to him, we discovered some great places in the region.

  • We spent a night on Gilbert's beautiful grounds. A great welcome, we are sure that if we had stayed longer we could have had some nice moments of exchange. The place is incredible! The outdoor kitchen, the cabin, the sanitary facilities...all the comforts are there to spend a very nice stay. In the quiet, with only the river in the background. Thank you Gilbert for your welcome and thank you for having installed all this for the travelers!

  • Beautiful garden with a breathtaking view of the mountains. We did not miss anything, superb place to eat, small typical chalet to warm up, natural shower. Thanks to Gilbert for his welcome and his precious advice on places to visit.

  • Excellent reception with a quiet corner and which proposes magnificent stroll in the corner.

  • First experience in Gamping Successful Very pleasant ground, rocked and refreshed by the noise of the torrent. Nothing is missing.
Gilbert is a very available and attentive host. Thanks for the model making session!

  • Excellent little stay in Maurienne, where we were perfectly installed at Gilbert's where nothing is missing.
Gilbert's welcome is particularly warm, thank you very much !

  • A haven of peace where you can fall asleep to the sound of a small mountain stream.
    Original site which I liked.
    Thank you Gilbert

  • First time, the welcome is perfect, the setting too, I highly recommend the address, a superb meeting, on vacation you have to be cool

  • We (a group of 6 friends) had a great stay at Gilbert's. A very good welcome, a gamping ++ thanks to the equipment on the spot and to the setting, a beautiful place and a village a little away from the valley. Gilbert is available and attentive to our needs to give us judicious advices about hikes and visits, and was kind enough to take us on beautiful hikes that we certainly would not have done without him.
A perfect stay, unforgettable memories, a beautiful experience that we are several to want to renew and make discover to our close relations.
Thanks again Gilbert and see you soon.

  • Gilbert welcomed us very well. The site is very well equipped, and the setting is superb. Gilbert also gave us a lot of advice on hikes and things to do in the area. We recommend it!

  • We were very well received at Gilbert's place. The setting is magnificent, it is understandable that those who don't like waterfalls find the proximity annoying, in any case it was not the case for us, he welcomed us with all the comfort that two bikers can expect ????????. Thanks to him. And the advice for the leaning house and the forts too top. We recommend without problem

  • For a first time, Gilbert has set the bar very high. All the comfort of the campsite and its infrastructures for a very limited number of users.
His kindness and his advice on hiking in the area are incomparable.
    We will come back....

  • Very nice welcome in a friendly setting, Gilbert is a great advisor for hiking in the area! A great layout on his land!

  • Gilbert is very welcoming and has a very large equipment for the camper, so camping all comfort for me!

The only small defect is the noise of the waterfall, but we stayed only one night and I suppose that one is used to it after several days.

Gilbert was also an excellent adviser for some visits in the area and of very good advice, he did not hesitate to even leave his laptop to show us the various choices of visits.

    Thanks again!

  • We spent several nights at Gilbert's place and we didn't miss a thing, quite the contrary! Gilbert is a great host, because not only does he do everything possible to make his guests comfortable, but he also gave us great advice on what to do in the area (especially for hiking): again, a big thank you for all this! We hope to come back soon, there is so much to discover in this beautiful region!

  • The place to pitch your tent is perfect, a nice garden, an equipped outdoor kitchen, a waterfall and a beautiful view!
All this for a very modest price.
And Gilbert is available, friendly and knows the area well!
I went for a hike with him and it was very nice!
    I recommend him to you!

  • Gilbert is very sympathetic.
He is very attentive to his guests.
    We did not miss anything.
Except one thing, the good weather :)
We will certainly come back for a weekend.

  • Thank you Gilbert for this stay with you! We feel at home, guided and advised by you. Thank you again for the welcome. We will not hesitate to come back!

  • Superb but short stay at Gilbert's :)
The setting is beautiful and Gilbert's simplistic approach is very appreciable.
Very functional, the space that he reserves for us is very well equipped, a happiness.
Thank you again and we look forward to seeing you :)
    Juliana, Philippine and Sarah

  • Magnificent place, breathtaking view on the mountain...two nights are not enough to discover the hidden treasures of the Alps ! Besides the landscape Gilbert is really a great host, both by his availability and his desire to make us discover his beautiful region! It is sure, we will come back cia...

  • First experience of gampers successful!
    Friendly and welcoming host.
Beautiful place but the duration of the stay did not allow us to take advantage of it at best.
    We will return.

  • Don't hesitate to stop at Gilbert's, for his kindness and his welcome
Very nice place...wake up and see the mountains .....
    Thank you Gilbert.
    Very good continuation

  • An ideal camping place for a family, convenient and comfortable.
Our host plays the role of tour guide admirably.

  • Gilbert is a philanthropist! He tries to give his Gampers the maximum comfort for a more than reasonable price. At the end of September, I was alone. So I was able to put (after Gilbert's suggestion) my sleeping bag in the cabin for five days. I would not have been more comfortable in a camper.
The location is more than close to the southern part of the Vanoise park. If you don't have time to work on the guidebooks, Gilbert will be happy to advise you (maps, guidebooks and videos are available).
Thank you Gilbert for this stay !

  • Thank you Gilbert for your welcome, for your availability, for your resistance to the volume of the children.Thank you for making us love your beautiful mountains. We are not big walkers and we did not hesitate to try some walks.
Thank you for having kept the children when the last one made us a small fright. You will have understood it at Gilbert's place we are like at home, we share convivial moments around the table under the shelter.go to make a turn in this place...do not hesitate.Gilbert we will return to see you I hope soon.

  • We had an excellent stay with Gilbert.
He will help you plan your hikes according to your needs. He is a true connoisseur of the mountains and the surrounding area.
He is very available and welcoming.
We are thinking of coming back one day with our children.
    Thanks again, Gilbert!

  • Gilbert welcomes you in his garden with very practical facilities (large shelter with kitchen and small hut with kitchen and fridge) for the campers. Gilbert is friendly and offers advice for walks in the area.
