Description

At the foot of the Parc de la Vanoise and at the crossroads of the GR 5, GR 55 and GR 57, for walkers. At the foot of the legendary Alpine passes, for cyclists and bikers.

The setting

I offer you a quiet, discreet lawn with simple sanitary facilities and shower, bordered by a stream that may be a gentle murmur to some, but a nuisance to others. Between my home and nature, with a view of the mountains.
A large equipped arbour and a tree house.
See photos.

The spots

Approximate measurements of available pitches are shown in the photos.
For groups: max. 6 people, exceptionally 8, shower and sanitary facilities not suitable.
Large families (8 or 10 people) shouldn't pose too many problems, apart from the amount of solar hot water available.
In general, there will be only you on the site, except in July and August, when you may have to share a night or two with other holidaymakers. In any case, no more than 6 people who don't know each other. Example: 3 independent couples, or 1 family of 4 and a visiting couple, ... .
Sorry, the site is not accessible by motorhome, but for some vans, it is possible to park in our parking lot between the house and the garage (if it passes through the alley, width: 2.60 m with a slight curve).
only a staircase or passage separates you from the lot.
Not great, but possible if you only use the van for sleeping.
It's up to you! You've been warned.

The amenities

A large hardwood arbour with barbecue, 80-litre fridge, microwave, gas, cupboard for storing dishes and food (solar-powered hot and cold water sink), table, chairs, toilet, solar-powered "beach" shower. ( naturism tolerated ).
A "mini tourist office" hut to store your equipment, with a small sink "without hot water", a microwave, a table and a 1-seater extra bed.

Electricity: 300w max "self-generated" and internet available throughout the site.
Home stay :
(Shower if no sun, washing machine, or other ...,Ask me) .
Private parking for one car and trailer, (vans, the alley is narrow and a communal parking lot is 50 m away).
Animals accepted, from mice to horses (parking and fodder available, please ask in advance).
A Nordic bath is available with my authorization (water temperature and hygiene).

The activities

SNCF train station and all types of shops in town 7 km away (no public transport between the property and the town since May), freeway 4 km away, Italy 18 km away via the Fréjus tunnel.
Numerous hikes (for an overview of hikes, ask for the link: (website hidden) ), mountain biking, cycling, motorcycling, via ferrata, accrobranche are all possible.
Visits to museums, forts, archaeological sites... are also possible in the surrounding area. Brochures, maps and topos available.

I'll usually get back to you very quickly, but in exceptional cases, if I'm on an off-grid hike, I'll get back to you after 6 or 7 p.m. and welcome you whenever you like, or after 12 p.m. if the site is occupied before you.
Once there, access to the site is free.

PS:

Rules

The rules are simple: good humor and conviviality!
When you arrive, I'll tell you which areas are open to you, and where naturism is tolerated if you're a naturist!
I'll ask you to respect nature, animals and the surroundings (garbage and recycling at the bottom of the village).
As for access and opening hours, I am available to discuss these by telephone after contacting me by e-mail (HOMECAMPER).
Children and pets welcome. ATTENTION: ducks allowed on the property.
Smokers : accepted outside the house and annexes, ashtrays available.
The site must be kept clean.
Please respect neighbors' privacy.

  • Very friendly and accommodating.
Shame the shower is in plain sight, otherwise great! The torrent is noisy but refreshing.
We would have loved to go for a walk, but it was too quick!

  • We had an extremely pleasant staying with Gilbert. He was very kind and helpful, giving advice about the many possible hikes in the lovely neighborhood.

  • We had an incredible stay at Gilbert's. He's a very friendly person who opened the doors of his lovely garden to us. We were able to take advantage of his advice and make the most of our stay in the region.

  • The arrival and welcome went very well, until Mr C. offered me the Swedish bath, stood next to me, and started to look very insistently and embarrassingly at my breasts (I was in my bathing suit). Being alone with him, this made me very uncomfortable and I preferred to leave.

  • Thank you Gilbert for your kindness. I had a great time. Our little hike with your knowledge of Modane and the Forts was really very nice and instructive. I look forward to returning. Best regards

  • short stay at gilbert's but very good welcome, good exchange, good facilities and what can I say about this Nordic bath of the most beautiful effect, I recommend .
I hope he'll have found his canneton.

  • Gilbert is an attentive host with a passion for his region. He takes care to put campers at ease, and that's appreciated. With another family of campers, we had the pleasure of inviting Gilbert to have dinner with us. We also shared a hike, with Gilbert showing us the way.
The site is perfectly suited to naturist campers or those with a low sense of modesty. The sanitary facilities, toilet and shower, and the kitchen are just as we pictured them, and very open to the surrounding countryside and its refreshing little stream.
    A natural camping experience!

  • Very warm welcome at Gilbert's! Pleasant location with mountain views and the sound of the waterfall in the background.
Complete equipment. Gilbert gave very good advice on outings and hikes in his beautiful region.

  • Gilbert welcomed us to a particularly well-equipped site: outdoor shower with hot water, flat cosy area, covered and well-equipped dining and washing-up area.

Gilbert will be happy to advise you on any activities in the area, guide you on hikes and tell you about the history of his region.

    Thanks Gilbert

  • Everything was perfect! The view from the site and the installation are splendid. Too bad we were only there for one night. Gilbert is a very friendly host with a big heart.

  • Thank you Gilbert for this evening
Very nice meeting and superbly adapted layout for campers

  • Gilbert is a thoughtful host who gave us our Nordic bathing baptism. He also advised us to take the Col du Cenis instead of the tunnel, which we did without regret - it was magnificent.

  • We were delighted to meet up again with Gilbert, who showed us around his region and told us all about it. The place is always friendly, and so is the host. He's very attentive to his travelers. What's more, he has a pleasant surprise in store, the secret of which we won't reveal.

  • we had a wonderful stay, way beyond our expectations. the places we stayed in were top-notch and very pleasant, with running ducks who loved our quiet moments and a Nordic bath to relax in the evening. Gilbert is a great host who takes great care of his campers, sharing his passions and his knowledge of the region and its history with them...the contact went so well that we invited him to join us on our walks, which really enriched our experience. What's more, he was able to show us the most suitable places to enjoy the mountains with my son and my two big dogs without being in the crowd, with nature spots just as we wanted them... We highly recommend Gilbert's site and will be back with great pleasure.

  • Gilbert's garden is a beautiful place to stay and share with running ducks. Very well kept. We ate together under the arbor, and although Gilbert does not understand German or English, and we do not understand French, we were able to talk and spend a super evening together. Before going to bed we were allowed to sit in the warm HotPot. Wonderful. And the view is gigantic.
Gilbert, thank you very much. We will be happy to come again.

  • Everything was simply perfect! The welcome, the cleanliness, the setting, the facilities (covered kitchen, toilet, shower, etc.). Not to mention Gilbert's hospitality! We even enjoyed a Nordic bath with Gilbert under the stars! Go for it!

  • Very good value for money and a nice change of scenery. However, the campers' facilities are open so you should not be too modest.

  • We had a very pleasant stay. The place is calm and restful. The host was very attentive and gave us good advice and respected our desire for freedom. The hot bath, very appreciable after the hikes.

  • Gilbert was very attentive, beyond our expectations.
The location of the tent, the small typical hut, the shelter to cook / eat ... Everything was very comfortable. The must, the Nordic bath (very appreciated by the whole family).
But our host was above all very welcoming, full of anecdotes and good advice. Passionate, he knows how to share his taste for his region and his interests as a specialist in model making.
Great experience. Thank you very much for this nice welcome.

  • Nice garden with view and sound of the torrent and very well equipped. The Norwegian bath is a must after the hike. What we remember most is Gilbert's warm welcome and his precious advice on hiking. He joined us
us one day. We feel that meeting and sharing are at the heart of his values.

  • Short but nice stay at Gilbert's who gave us a nice introduction on the history of the Maurienne. The boys tell everyone that they took a shower with the water of the waterfall, beautiful invigorating experience :) see you soon to share another good moment under the stars of the mountains of Haute Maurienne! Thank you for everything Gilbert.

  • Very good stay with Gilbert! A beautiful setting with a host full of advice for the best hikes.
    We enjoyed the Norwegian bath.
We will come back with pleasure!

  • What a wonderful welcome we had at Gilbert's!
The region is sublime, the land at our disposal is perfect, the view is breathtaking, the equipment is worthy of a top campsite.
I recommend the experience of the solar shower facing the torrent, a magical moment.
Gilbert is a mine of information on the region, his advice for a walk with a puppy was judicious.
I will add just two words before concluding: Norwegian bath.

  • We had a wonderful time. Lots of beautiful walks, incredible views. Gilbert is a very helpful and kind host. He knows the area very well and gives good advice for the group. We invited him to join one of our walks and it was great. The campsite is very well equipped - everything you need. We would like to come back.

  • Great stay at Gilbert's ! Everything you need for a very comfortable gamping ! Warm and friendly welcome, beautiful region, we shared great moments! I hope we will have the opportunity to come back!

  • Nice host knows the location well very helpful had all the things needed in in the campsite

  • Our stay was just perfect. Gilbert is a very dear host who welcomed us so warmly that we felt right at home. His property is beautiful and he built a great place with kitchen, shower and toilet. All a great experience! In addition, Gilbert gave us fantastic tips on what to do in the area and as a perfect ending we were allowed in the hot tub :-) many thanks for everything, we can highly recommend the place!

  • very good stay, Gilbert is very nice and advises on the sites to visit :)

  • Gil welcomed us superbly, we made a walk with him then invited him to eat with us. We were able to try his Norwegian bath, which was very pleasant after a day of walking. Here we have spent 3 days well filled and very rewarding Gilbert is a great host that we recommend to all.

  • My stay at Gilbert's was perfect. Because of the cooler temperatures, I was able to sleep in the garden shed.
The pergola area is very nice and has everything you need to cook, including the barbecue which I also used as a brazier.
Gilbert's welcome was incredible. He gave me a lot of information about the area (which is very beautiful) and even went for a walk with me, just for fun.
I was also very interested in his DIY finds, as he knows how to do just about everything with his hands.
Gilbert, I spent 4 fantastic days with you and I thank you very much. It would be a great pleasure to come back and pitch my tent with you.
See you another time I hope.

  • Pleasant stay. Gilbert welcomes you and advises you on the walks to do and the cultural events in the area, really very practical! We shared good moments. To recommend :)

  • Very pleasant stay!

  • Exceptional! Ideal frame and environment to stay, we took as much pleasure to enjoy the place as to enjoy the surroundings. Host very available, listening and full of resources!
My best experience on this site so far!

  • Gilbert was a great host, in an idyllic setting, for a luxury camping!
He loves his mountains so much that he made us discover them from every angle, history, anecdotes and hikes, it was a real pleasure. Thank you very much for offering us such a beautiful vacation !

  • Absolutely perfect!
Gilbert is very welcoming, he took time to show us his beautiful region (which he knows perfectly), to advise us. He is a very good hiking guide, and he is very patient (fortunately, with 5 children in the high mountains)! The view when we wake up is breathtaking and there is all the necessary installation to eat well (fridge, BBQ, cupboards, big table,...). Gilbert is a talented handyman who fascinated our teenagers. We enjoyed it so much that we plan to come back! So, for all these reasons, and more, I recommend this host!

  • Discovery of the Mont Cenis with our host, an outstanding guide, attention to detail, unusual visits, adapted advice: a big THANK YOU.

  • Gilbert is very welcoming and resourceful. The place is strategic to visit, walk, climb...

  • We had a great stay in spite of the bad weather, thanks to Gilbert's very good advice! We are very grateful to him!
The facilities on the grounds are very functional!
Delighted! Thanks again to Gilbert, we will be back!
    We recommend him!

  • Great welcome from Gilbert who shares his knowledge and experience in all simplicity. He does this for the pleasure of being of service and for the love of his region and that makes all the difference! I recommend him! Thank you for everything! :)

  • Gilbert welcomed us very warmly on a well equipped site for campers! He gave us good advice and helped us out after our car broke down... Thanks to him, we discovered some great places in the region.

  • We spent a night on Gilbert's beautiful grounds. A great welcome, we are sure that if we had stayed longer we could have had some nice moments of exchange. The place is incredible! The outdoor kitchen, the cabin, the sanitary facilities...all the comforts are there to spend a very nice stay. In the quiet, with only the river in the background. Thank you Gilbert for your welcome and thank you for having installed all this for the travelers!

  • Beautiful garden with a breathtaking view of the mountains. We did not miss anything, superb place to eat, small typical chalet to warm up, natural shower. Thanks to Gilbert for his welcome and his precious advice on places to visit.

  • Excellent reception with a quiet corner and which proposes magnificent stroll in the corner.

  • First experience in Gamping Successful Very pleasant ground, rocked and refreshed by the noise of the torrent. Nothing is missing.
Gilbert is a very available and attentive host. Thanks for the model making session!

  • Excellent little stay in Maurienne, where we were perfectly installed at Gilbert's where nothing is missing.
Gilbert's welcome is particularly warm, thank you very much !

  • A haven of peace where you can fall asleep to the sound of a small mountain stream.
    Original site which I liked.
    Thank you Gilbert

  • First time, the welcome is perfect, the setting too, I highly recommend the address, a superb meeting, on vacation you have to be cool

  • We (a group of 6 friends) had a great stay at Gilbert's. A very good welcome, a gamping ++ thanks to the equipment on the spot and to the setting, a beautiful place and a village a little away from the valley. Gilbert is available and attentive to our needs to give us judicious advices about hikes and visits, and was kind enough to take us on beautiful hikes that we certainly would not have done without him.
A perfect stay, unforgettable memories, a beautiful experience that we are several to want to renew and make discover to our close relations.
Thanks again Gilbert and see you soon.

  • Gilbert welcomed us very well. The site is very well equipped, and the setting is superb. Gilbert also gave us a lot of advice on hikes and things to do in the area. We recommend it!

  • We were very well received at Gilbert's place. The setting is magnificent, it is understandable that those who don't like waterfalls find the proximity annoying, in any case it was not the case for us, he welcomed us with all the comfort that two bikers can expect ????????. Thanks to him. And the advice for the leaning house and the forts too top. We recommend without problem
