Our camping venue, Of the Ancients, is set up as a spiritual retreat center to unplug from electronics, connect with the universe, meditate, pray and commune with like-minded souls. The setting
Primitive to not-so-primitive camping can be enjoyed in groups from one to one hundred! Private RV and parking areas are off the road and close to communal campfire/social areas. There are pit toilets available in three areas, propane-fired outdoor shower area (if reserved in advance) or use our shower area for your own solar shower for impromptu camping. Some areas are more easily handicapped accessible but handicapped persons should please plan to travel with an able-bodied support person to assist you. We have abundant wildlife and nightly serenade by our resident nighthawk and coyotes. A great place to stargaze with no visible street/house lights from camping area. We are open to small group gathering, events, etc. please contact us for more information.
The spots
Maps are avilable for private use on request. Open camping is avilable in a sunny location which is flat and near our RV area and parking area with a campfire circle and pit toilets nearby. There are two more private, wooded camping areas that may accommodate 10-20 campers (each) down narrow trails that allow for foot-traffic only but with vehicle access fairly close. Our Accessibility Camping area has ramped access to the pit toilet, closer campsite and flat, open area for tent camping. Small vans or RVs might be permissible to camp in this area as well. Other smaller wooded and shaded camping spots are available with room for one to five tents, depending upon tent size.
The sanitary facilities
Toilets are primitive pit-style toilets in wooden structure with clear covered roof, weighted cloth door for privacy and although we try to stay stocked with toilet paper, it may be best to be a prepared camper and bring some of your own. The shower is one large plastic-wood deck (no splinters) with tarped sides, cloth door and no roof. If requested in advance, a water reservoir can be brought in to supply propane-powered hot showers. Impromptu campers please bring your own solar showers. Potable water can be accessed near the main homes on the farm, as well as laundry facilities may be accessible from The Gatekeeper’s House.
The amenities
It is our goal to eventually have wifi accessible to the camping areas, the beautiful rolling hills have made this goal more difficult than we had hoped.
The activities
We are roughly a mile away from the Cedar Ridge Venue, within 20 minutes for both Paragould and Jonesboro, and Arknasas State University.
