Description

Montlahuc is a charming little hamlet above Bellegarde en Diois, with around thirty inhabitants (all young people apart from me and my childhood neighbor, who have set up as organic farmers).
I'd be delighted to welcome you here for an authentic stay in all simplicity! Why not come and get away from it all for a few days?

The setting

My house is a chalet surrounded by a wooded meadow.
You'll be in the heart of nature, in the mountains (hiking trails).
And quiet: after Montlahuc, there's no tarmac road.
The neighbors are mostly young, newly rural people with young children.
In Montlahuc, you feel at home in a convivial public space.
An old country with a young modernity, quietly mountainous, quietly alternative, including aperitif-grillades.
I'll be happy to chat with you, to help you or simply to get to know you better during your stay here! :-)

The spots

Easy access in the middle of nature. Gentle slope with flat areas. Pleasant shade (lime trees, orchard, conifers).
We cannot accept campervans, which are too large.

The sanitary facilities

You have access to dry toilets and an outdoor shower with washbasin, supplied by the house's hot water system.

The amenities

Sheltered dining area with fully-equipped summer kitchen (worktop, mini-oven, hob, kettle, fridge, toaster, coffee maker, sink, utensils and crockery...), electricity (external socket and extension leads), separate freezer, fully-accessible kitchen and washing machine in the house, connected office equipment, extensive library (classic literature, comics, humanities), video room (hundreds of DVDs) for fallback in bad weather, swing. And a workshop in case of need.
The (organic) vegetable garden offers tomatoes, lettuce and strawberries, and more if they're willing to come out.
For the kids, in the attic of the chalet, you'll find shelves of comics (from Smurfs to Blake and Mortimer...) and everything you need to doodle, play Monopoly and spread out toys.

The activities

Explore the region and discover the local culture!

You'll be in the heart of the goat mountain region, ideal for hiking and adventure.
If you're a keen hiker, you'll find many of the world's most beautiful and tranquil paths and trails.
Landscapes you can also see from the air: paragliding club nearby.
And, if you're too afraid of heights, you can canoe or kayak down the Drôme, or swim in waterfalls in remote valleys.
There are often convivial dinner parties from one house to the next, but there are no shops or bistros. No cinema, only the whistling and low-flying of swifts in the evening, depending on the weather.
Horse-riding, including for children, and supervised kindergarten with an instructor.
Fountain (secure) for squadrons of admirals in short pants... unless there's a drought.

Other things

35 kilometers away (one pass down), Die, an ancient Gallo-Roman town, is a jewel.
A particularly colorful market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, and many exceptional sites in the surrounding area (Cistercian abbey, waterfalls, etc.).

Rules

No rules other than those of conviviality and... the ban on fires in summer (but barbecues ok, equipment on site).
No known timetable.
Beware: in summer, the country suffers from increasing drought. Showers ad lib, but short!

Extras

Possibility of breakfast (€8 / person)

No time constraints, ad lib, to prepare and serve yourself: organic wholemeal bread (local artisanal production), butter or vegetable butter, fried or boiled eggs, seasonal fruit, organic cereals with yoghurt, organic milk, and tea or coffee + consultation of Le Monde by internet. Half price for children under 13.

  • André is a charming host. The village is really lost at the end of the world, which gives a feeling of total disconnection. The site is very pleasant, shady and well-maintained, with all the necessary amenities. However, it's not suitable for camper vans. André is very attentive to your needs, and we shared an apero which enabled us to get to know each other better and learn more about the village and the region. There's a superb walk with a wonderful waterfall at the end.
There's even a swing. The village is beautiful, with lots of lovely people with whom we were lucky enough to share the village fête (many thanks to Nico the winemaker).
And the icing on the cake: an incredible collection of Cambrai comics, available to us with all his kindness.
. In short, a moment beyond our expectations. Thank you André, and see you soon.

  • André gladly welcomed us into his garden overnight: we settled in under a lime tree and were given a hammock, much to the delight of the children, who devoured a number of books on the spot. We had a lovely time at André and Laurence's and will be back with pleasure. Thanks for the Provençal chat and the concert!

  • The Diois region is one of France's little treasures! And it's an even greater treasure to be welcomed here by André! Everything just becomes easier thanks to your attentiveness, availability and kindness! Not to mention all the facilities you've put in place outside your magnificent home!
Journeys really only begin when we meet!
    Many, many thanks!
Kyrill, Aurore, Aurème, Ilya, and Isaure!

  • Very nice meeting with André and the inhabitants of Montlahuc.available he advised us some nice walks and shared some stories of this beautiful village. A resourcing stay. A big thank you for this welcome André. Hugo wishes to come back soon ????!

  • Very welcoming host who kindly opened his house to us. The village festival was very friendly. We danced and ate well. This village is charming and very welcoming. Nice meetings!

  • André was very welcoming and kind!

  • André is a kind man and always smiling. The landscapes in the vicinity are splendid. The level of comfort is rustic.

  • Our stay did not happen because we could not access the space that was reserved for us. I thought our camper was 2.95m high but it was 3.20m high. We would have taken away our host's gutter if we tried to park! Even if the camper had been lower, we would have been stuck to the cottage, so no regrets! We continued our journey and found a great spot in Valdrôme at 1300m altitude.
So, it's hard to give an evaluation. We only had our host on the phone but he was very nice.

  • André is really nice, very cool, discreet. He made his chalet available to me in his absence. The setting is very pleasant, I recommend it 100%!

  • Warm and friendly welcome. André was available and attentive so that our short stay at his place went as well as possible and made us want to come back to spend more time there. Thank you for everything

  • I booked 3 days at André's place and these 3 days became an extraordinary adventure and memory for me. André is an extremely kind and accommodating person, who opens his door willingly to tell an anecdote about his hamlet, to share a life story or to bring us warmth with a hot stove.
The land is full of little nooks and crannies with a good vegetable garden and the facilities made by André are really top notch, hot shower with a view, very clean dry toilets, small covered summer kitchen with hotplates and pans and a great wooden hut.
The walks are wonderful around his place!
In short, don't wait any longer to discover this little haven of peace and sharing based on the "eco-hamlet" model.

  • Extra stay, with conviviality, sharing and discovering unusual people in a peaceful place; many thanks André.

  • We spent a perfect week with André. Visit of villages all more charming than the others, lake and bathing, waterfalls and small basins discovered at the end of randounettes for our 3 children of 3, 7 and 10 years. A calm and lively setting at the same time. Our children were delighted to be able to ride horses and play with the village children. André never fails to offer us products from the neighboring farms and we were able to meet the producers and taste their products: sausages, fresh goat cheese, sheep's yogurt, beer, sourdough bread and so on. Almost no need to go shopping! We don't feel like tourists.
And the icing on the cake,...there's plenty of Tintin. Friends readers, enjoy!

  • We had a pleasant stay with André. A very nice host, calm, with good addresses to share and visits to recommend. Nature lovers, the place is perfect, calm, relaxing and very beautiful. Contrary to appearances, these small villages, a little far from everything, are full of resources: cheeses, butters, beers, socks, meats.... It was our first home camping, nice experience.

  • A beautiful experience full of humanity and sharing, thank you ANDRE for this proposal of authenticity.

  • A little visit to André's house is worth the detour! André is welcoming and attentive to his campers. I spent an excellent musical evening on the terrace of his house. A green and soothing setting. I recommend it and I will come back!
The small outdoor kitchen is a real plus and also offers campers a friendly space.

  • Our little family had a wonderful stay in this charming hamlet. Our host, André, gave us a fantastic welcome! A big thank you and see you soon!

  • André's warm welcome and friendly atmosphere with the other campers, the stay was very pleasant. Everything is as indicated: showers, toilets, kitchen-bar cabin. André welcomed us in a playroom of his chalet with our son on a rainy day. The hamlet is pretty and there are several local producers nearby.

  • We spent only one night there but we could have stayed several days, the place is nice and André very welcoming and full of good advice on walks, local producers... The shower, the dry toilets and the summer kitchen are also very appreciable!

  • We really appreciated this stay. André's welcome is simple and warm, he knows how to encourage conviviality between the campers and we had an improvised barbecue evening.

  • Warm welcome in a beautiful setting! André is a perfect host.

  • The village is inhabited, authentic and friendly. André is a welcoming and attentive host. You can camp in his enclosed, shady, flowery garden. A fully equipped outdoor kitchen is available as well as a dry toilet and a hot shower in a cabin. André gave us information about local producers, hikes, and invited us to his barbecue with the inhabitants of the village. Ideal place for those looking for authenticity and calm. Suitable for small vans and tents.

  • André gave us a warm welcome, shared the salad from his garden, and listened carefully to the needs of his campers. Let his suggestions guide you to discover the hidden treasures of his village and the region.
Perfect for those who love nature, calm and a certain rusticity.
Don't forget the mosquito repellent this summer.

  • A superb welcome, a superb place, a superb region and superb meetings.
No doubt we will come back with the whole family this time.
Once again a big thank you for everything

  • We really liked the calm that reigns in this hamlet and especially the warm welcome that André gave us. Very pleasant exchanges with the host.
André knows perfectly the history of the region and will also be able to indicate you numerous hikes to make on foot or by bike.
We could appreciate the beautiful frescoes and paintings in the village chapel.
Thank you André for your welcome and your kindness, we will come back with pleasure.

  • André welcomed us with kindness and simplicity. From our first exchanges, André guided and advised us to arrive in perfect conditions. A stay in a magnificent setting with everything we were looking for for our stay. A real pleasure to meet such a kind and caring person. At André's you will find without any doubt the assurance of a very good welcome!
Thank you again for everything, we will not fail to share this experience and keep the idea of coming back to your place for a moment to escape in peace.

  • With my cousin, Clothilde, we decided to leave unexpectedly for a weekend. We were warmly welcomed by André, at short notice, and moreover in his chalet and not in a tent to protect us from the cold.
We loved to walk along the sometimes sunny and sometimes snowy paths, it was a real change of scenery and a refreshing experience.
André is a well of knowledge, as well on the region and its history as on the rest of the world. He shared with us the good plans of the surroundings, hikes, village...
We really felt at home, we were able to share a good meal with André and many anecdotes.
Conviviality and generosity were the key words of this stay.
We will return without hesitation to André's house if the opportunity arises.

  • Once arrived it is difficult to leave!

The stay at André's was excellent. Monthaluc is the perfect place to get away from it all.
André is a warm host who will make you feel comfortable and share his knowledge of the area and so much more!
We loved Chica's morning visits and the company of Minouche aka "the cat".
Thank you André for your welcome and your kindness, we will come back, I promise!

Thank you Andre for a wonderful stay. I shall practice my French for the next time! And shall be in contact with you soon for exercises :)))

    Thank you very much
    Lewis and Leandra

  • André's orchard and eco-responsible sanitary facilities are the ideal place to spend a few days away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. André is available, a well of culture and a great connoisseur of his region. He will also be discreet with the solitary ones.

  • André is the best host we have had. The place is really peaceful and relaxing. I strongly advise you to stop by his place!

  • André warmly welcomed us at his place with a welcome beer and we settled in front of his beautiful wooden chalet.
He was available to give us good tips about the surroundings (walks and waterfalls) and then accompanied us to the hamlet where the local farmers have a self-service grocery store with sausages, pâtés and other victuals.
On the last day he also accompanied us to the neighboring village to buy goat cheese directly from the producer's farm.
André is involved in his community and participates in its development by communicating the local wealth.
We will gladly return to discover more.

  • A very pleasant night! Facilities for campers (shower, toilet, fridge-freezer) convenient and clean.

  • A welcoming, kind, available and interesting host. André knows the area perfectly. He will be able to give you the places to go for a walk that are worth the detour.

His lime tree promises you good nights and deep naps.

The hamlet of Montlahuc is very charming and welcoming just like its inhabitants.

We will come back, that's for sure!

  • Very pleasant stay in a quiet and friendly atmosphere of exchange and sharing.
We made beautiful encounters whether it be our children, young and old, or us adults.
We will all come back with pleasure to André's place!

  • My stay in Monthaluc was a beautiful parenthesis of quietude and benevolence. André is an exceptional host, very cultured and overflowing with generosity. This first home camping experience could not have been better. The hamlet is isolated but radiant. The surroundings offer beautiful walks and refreshing waterfalls!
I recommend without hesitation. Thanks again André! A bèn lèu!

  • Thank you André for your warm welcome! We had a great time with you and we hope to come back one day! See you soon and have a good work site ????

  • If you are in the Diois, I advise you to stop in this place full of charms of peace and beautiful nature.
André is very welcoming and attentive.
Moreover the village and the road to get there is magnificent.
Thank you André and see you soon.
