Description

Exclusive use of the forest surrounding our secluded homestead. Access to unique playground. Variety of terrain, and distance from the house. We have free range chickens and other birds running around the yard as well as a large dog that typically stays tied up when guests are here. I only accept one party at a time, and try to be helpful where I can.

The setting

Our property is only a few miles from town, a but you would never know it by being here as it is surrounded for quite a ways on all sides by forest and houses are sprinkled 1000' apart. Every now and then you can hear a car passing in the distance. We live in hilly terrain, a couple of acres of cleared land near the house and forest all around us that is pleasant to walk through. Skies are fairly dark out here as long as you dont look toward the glow of the city in one direction.

The spots

We have a real mix of terrain. We have a leveled spot near driveway where camper can be parked, lots of sloped forest, one very secluded area of forest with flat ground, we have a pretty big yard around the house with some flat ground which might be a little more tame.

The sanitary facilities

We have a garden hose that is at your disposal for drinking water. No toilet offered at this time. please dig a little hole and cover solid waste.

The amenities

We have a garden hose, wireless internet that is available closer to the house, and a 30 amp extension cord out to the camper site. we have a couple of external wall outlets on our workshop.

The activities

We have a very nice playground with a trampoline, tightrope, treehouse/ship, swings, and sandbox. A couple of hundred feet of paved driveway, good for skating and biking. Free range chickens, turkeys and ducks running around. A long gravel road through the forest, a little pond and nice forest all around our house that is easy to walk through.

Other things

We are happy to share toys, bikes, grill, slingshots, wood chopping tools, etc. We are experienced campers and can offer some advice when needed.

Rules

No diseased, pest infested firewood brought onto my land. We sell firewood here.

No harsh soaps or chemicals spilled on land. please use the biodegradable stuff.

We have free-range chickens, so any animals need to be kept away from them, even if they wander into your campsite.

Our neighbors are very far away through the forest, but it is still possible to bother them with very loud noise late at night.

Excellent
  • Ken is a very welcoming host in a lovely setting. It was such a relaxing stay listening to the sounds of nature to lull me to sleep.
Ken’s property is far enough from the hustle and bustle of metropolitan DC but close enough to every convenience you can want...restaurants and shopping are within a 10 minute drive. Sight seeing in our Nation’s Capitol are a little more than 30 miles away.
