Description

Hello, I'm renting a lovely shady cabin on my land in Montlahuc.
Montlahuc is a charming little hamlet above Bellegarde en Diois, with around 30 inhabitants (all young people apart from me and my childhood friend next door, who have set up as breeders and organic producers).
I'd be delighted to welcome you here for an authentic stay in all simplicity! Why not come and get away from it all for a few days?

The spots

The accommodation is a small cabin with a pointed roof, a single berth and a double sofa bed. There's also a small stove and solar lighting!

The sanitary facilities

No opening hours, outdoor shower cubicle (hot water), dry toilets on site.

The amenities

An outdoor kitchen is available a few meters from the cabin (worktop, mini-oven, hob, kettle, fridge, toaster, coffee maker, sink, utensils and crockery...and sheltered dining area), electricity (outdoor socket and extension leads), and swing.

The house is close to the cabin, with full access to: independent freezer, kitchen, dishwasher and washing machine, connected office equipment, extensive library (classic literature, comics, humanities), video room (hundreds of DVDs) for fallback in case of bad weather. And a workshop in case of need.
The (organic) vegetable garden offers tomatoes, lettuce and strawberries, and others if they're willing to come out.
For the kids, in the attic of the chalet, you'll find shelves of comics (from Smurfs to Blake and Mortimer...) and everything you need to doodle, play Monopoly and spread out toys.

The activities

Explore the region and discover the local culture!

You'll be in the heart of the goat mountain region, the perfect place for hiking and adventure.
If you're a keen hiker, you'll find many of the world's most beautiful and tranquil paths and trails.
Landscapes you can also see from the air: paragliding club nearby.
And, if you're too afraid of heights, you can canoe or kayak down the Drôme, or swim in waterfalls in remote valleys.
There are often convivial dinner parties from one house to the next, but there are no shops or bistros. No cinema, only the whistling and low-flying of swifts in the evening, depending on the weather.
Horse-riding, including for children, and supervised kindergarten with an instructor.
Fountain (secure) for squadrons of admirals in short pants... unless there's a drought.

Other things

35 kilometers away (one pass down), Die, an ancient Gallo-Roman town, is a jewel.
A particularly colorful market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings, and many exceptional sites in the surrounding area (Cistercian abbey, waterfalls, etc.).

Tent rental

1 2-person tent with mattress and lamp.
Room available if needed, and wooden bungalow sleeping 3 (please let us know in advance, extra charge negotiated on site).

Rules

No rules other than those of conviviality and... the ban on fires in summer (but barbecues ok, equipment on site).

Extras

Possibility of breakfast (€8 / person)

No time constraints, to prepare and serve yourself: organic wholemeal bread (local artisanal production), butter or vegetable butter, fried or boiled eggs, seasonal fruit, organic cereals with local yoghurt, organic milk, and tea or coffee + online consultation of Le Monde newspaper. Half price for children under 13.

  • Thank you André for this enchanting interlude.
Reading, music, film, discussions, Le Chat, the paintings....
