Description

Large, shady 2000 m2 plot on the edge of the forest, 5 minutes' walk from the town center and Lac de Gerardmer. Dry toilets on site.

The setting

The land is quiet, close to the forest and on the edge of a small dead-end road. You'll see deer, squirrels and other game.

The spots

Easily accessible site on a small dead-end road.
Pitches are shaded. Part of the plot is flat (5x5).
The car remains parked at the edge of the plot along the small road without obstructing traffic.
Thank you for your patience.

The sanitary facilities

Dry toilets on site.
Solar shower with foot pump.

The amenities

Electricity (in the field) and water (in the home) are available.

The activities

Lots to do in Gerardmer. Hiking, water sports on the lake, fun activities for children, visits to the various places around Gerardmer.

Other things

The plot is located along a dead-end road. Please park your car along the road so as not to obstruct the neighbors' traffic.
If you have an electric car, it will be possible to recharge at my place for a small extra charge.

Rules

The place is quiet, and we want it to stay that way. If you want to party, this is not the place...sorry. The site is on the edge of the forest and game likes peace and quiet...
I also wish to leave the site natural, so no cars in the site.
Thank you for respecting these few rules.

Extras

Possibility of breakfast (€5 / person)

The classic breakfast (coffee, tea or chocolate) is accompanied by bread, butter, jam and viennoiserie.

  • The trip went very well. Fabrice made us feel very welcome and we were able to take advantage of this beautiful, well-appointed space. Many thanks to Fabrice. And don't hesitate to visit!

  • Thanks to Fabrice for welcoming us with our dogs, despite the rain we had a pleasant stay! The location is quiet, nothing to complain about!

  • Fabrice gave us a very warm welcome to his plot of land. Everything has been thought of for a very pleasant "home-camping" experience! The location is quiet and elevated, at the gateway to the town of Gérardmer. The center is just a 5-minute walk away.
A nice touch is the light at gully level (it's better not to fall over if you get the urge at night), a little secluded spot for a shower and electricity close at hand!
You can be sure that camping at Fabrice's place will be much more pleasant than a night in a hotel!
    Many thanks

  • A warm welcome and a very pleasant, peaceful location. Close to nature and 2 steps from Gérardmer. We recommend the place and the host!

  • Fabrice is very welcoming and friendly, and we had a great time. A little noise pollution at night but it was Saturday evening and the town of Gerardmer is not far which is great when you want to walk without a car, so you can't have everything. ????
    Thanks for the warm welcome!

  • We spent a great week on the property of Fabrice.
Upon arrival, we were very friendly welcomed, he showed us the place, the dry toilet in the adjacent forest (this was really worth its weight in gold) and has immediately offered us water from his garage, which we have then fetched with our canisters. In addition, immediately brought 2 solar bags for showers to the place.
He informed us when he and his wife would be home if we needed water again.
His house is about 100m away from the campsite, another house is about 200m away. The campground is located, as Fabrice described, at a dead end and at the edge of the forest. A little above the path a road passes, which is also little used. So we had the necessary peace and privacy during our stay.
The place ansich is a bit uneven, which did not bother us.
Also Fabrice wife asked several times during our stay if everything was ok.
We had very nice conversations together.

Here I must therefore absolutely disagree with the guests who have visited the week before us, the place of Fabrice.... It is also a pity that they left banana peels and other food remains.
Perhaps for some people a hotel would be the better choice.

I can definitely recommend Fabrice's campground. Camping in and with nature!!!

And many thanks to the whole family, who helped vigorously on our departure day to push our trailer up the mountain!!!!

  • Disappointed with the attitude of the host during our presence, friendly, helpful, and just left a very negative comment?
And disappointed to see the grounds, landscaped grounds??? Only by a few paths between the vegetation, just made on the surface with the mower?
Hello when it rains, the ground was unstable, like spongy, while the weather is nice and warm the 3 days.
Very small pitches, not flat, full of stones that plowed my back at night, and on a slope, not slept for 3 nights.
The road nearby is very noisy day and night, lots of traffic, cars and motorcycles.
Fabrice denied it when we told him.
Solar shower yes, but no closed space, even if it's just a sheet stretched with a stake where to hang it so that the pressure works...
Drinking water yes, but it was necessary to go to seek it with a jerry can which was not mentioned on the essential material to bring ....
    No outside tap available ....
Fabrice's wife had told us that we could go and get some in the garage which was always open.
This wasn't possible as soon as they left, so we had to wait until the next morning to get some water, which wasn't hot until 12 or 13 o'clock, given the shade in the morning.
Electricity, a cable close to the toilet, very good, but the plug on the ground, and too far from the tent, at the end of the path with a very dangerous passage at night, old board at the end of the path, unstable, 2 large stones, one of which was used as a step before crossing a gully to arrive in a field of pine cones crushed on the ground where I stumbled every time, risking a fall or sprain, especially at night.
And in the middle of this path, a huge creeping bramble rooted on either side in the grass, which also caused me to stumble suddenly, all of which created the risk of an accident on this unchecked terrain. Prevention of these risks is not de rigueur in this environment, even though it welcomes people who haven't necessarily done Ko Lanta or returned to the wild.
The car was put in as requested, but given the traffic and the speed of vehicles passing close to mine, the next day I moved it closer to the tent, 2m away, to protect it from the gaze of the groups of people who regularly passed by, and to have a little more privacy.
As for the thermo, the person accompanying me had put it in the cooler before each hike, so on the day of departure he didn't think to replace it with a bottle.
I saw it when I emptied my car on arrival home.
This person would like to come back with her children, so she can give it back to Fabrice.
Other services listed in the description, such as putting things in the fridge, drying things, in short, or reheating food, were not offered or accessible.

In short, my comment is long, but complete on what I discovered on the spot.
Here it is, very disappointed, too complicated, I came to look for relaxation, not found in this place.
Fabrice rest assured, I have no intention of returning.
At my age, I aspire to less restrictive vacations, because you can have a minimum of comfort with very small facilities that cost nothing, just a little thought about their layout.

  • Very good weekend spent with Fabrice. He is a welcoming and accommodating host.
    I recommend him

  • Second experience in camping and it was very pleasant, despite the weather a little mixed.
Fabrice is a very welcoming and attentive host. The site is nice and quiet, the dry toilets are very clean. The proximity of Gérardmer is a plus for us, we were able to go there on foot. We will come back there with pleasure.

  • First experience on HomeCamper and very satisfied. Fabrice was available and the welcome was great! Go there with your eyes closed! Dry toilets on the site is a significant plus. We will gladly come back.

  • Fabrice and his wife are very welcoming hosts. They try to welcome us as well as possible and this is very appreciable. Dry toilets and solar shower, in a corner of their property a little out of the way, and just next to the center of Gerardmer, it's everything I was looking for (with advice on hikes and walks as a bonus). Thanks again to them !

  • The stay at Fabrice's place went perfectly well. Quiet and shady place on the edge of the forest, we really appreciated the quietness and the coolness especially with the current heat. Fabrice and his family are extremely friendly. Thank you for your kindness. See you soon. Gilles
