We have a big open back yard. Not professional landscaping but just nature. Like natural grass and trees and flowers. It’s partially fenced on one side. The back side is trees between properties. The other side is not fenced but the neighbour to that side is barely home. There is an old concrete square that we built a homemade fire pit with just some bricks we found buried on the property.
The setting
The neighborhood is fairly quiet for the most part. Once in a blue moon you might hear ppl partying on the street behind. Or an atv zooming up the road. Can be lots of birds and ravens squawking in the morning. Or couple of squirrels. Might hear a dog barking here and there. The traffic on our street is usually light. Parked in the back you will barely see the road because the house and detached shed/garage are blocking the street. We rarely use the backyard. It’s pretty plain and natural.
The spots
There can be shade if parked closer to the trees but the way the property is facing it’s pretty much full on sun for most of the backyard for most of the day. There’s plenty of space between the house and all the way to the back property line where the trees are. There’s a big enough gap to drive between the house and garage to get to the back. The ground isn’t completely flat. You will find flat places though. You will notice all of the town is built on sand. Lots are exposed but in our area we have lots of coverage so we don’t get the blowing sand on windy days.
The sanitary facilities
There is a waste dumping station on the other side of town. I will get more information later. Anytime you need water for anything there is a hose in the front garden that can be used anytime. There is also a YMCA in town.
The amenities
You can use our wifi with the password.
There’s a plug in outlet on the side of our house if you need it for anything.
Extra camping chairs.
The activities
You are welcome to use the backyard as you like to your enjoyment. Just nothing loud after 11pm. There’s a YMCA in the middle of town, with pool, exercise equipment, walking track , etc. Theres a fitness gym across from that with every kind of workout equipment. The river isn’t far from my house. Just down the road. And a walking trail along the river, you can walk from my house. There’s a very large looped boardwalk in a protected area called Birch island just a little further up. 30 minutes away in the town of North West River is a large long beach where you can swim if you can brave the cold water. The town of NWR is a nice historic spot to explore. On the way to NWR is spots of interest. Farm, gosling lake, small waterfall and peace rock, birch brook ski club you can walk the trails in summer and fall for free. The trails go pretty far. So if you like hiking that would be the spot. The military base has a small military museum at their grocery store. You can access most of the base area. If you love nature there are many things you can do.
Other things
The main river near my house, the Churchill River is not to used for swimming. It is very dangerous. Ppl do boat there though and you can pay the convenience store a pass to park there in the boating parking lot.
We have an extra parking spot in front of the house. We have 2 vehicles and there is a spot for a third. Our garage can be used to store equipment or other things.
