Description

Camping in the middle of the Ruhrpott. Why live in a prefabricated building when you can also take a vacation in the garden of a prefabricated building?

The setting

Only 3Km from the Ruhtalradweg away, you experience here Ruhr area pure. The 30 zone in front of the house is gladly abused until late in the evening as a racetrack and the garden is located under a flight path, which provides additional Atmospähre. In the evening there is so much light pollution that you are guaranteed not to see any stars. But there's delicious Currywurst around the corner and only 200m away from the place also a Penny market. The train station Wattenscheid-Höntrop is also within 10min walking distance.

The spots

The campground is located in an enclosed garden with high hedges and a fence behind it, in the green courtyard of a redeveloped prefabricated housing estate from the 50s. If you stretch out you can stoutly greet the other 39 housing units that border the large courtyard. There is a playground with some playground equipment directly behind the garden. This has a bit of an outdoor pool atmosphere in the summer, if it weren't for the additional dear neighbor who watches reruns of RTL riffraff shows with the windows open almost all day. If you close your eyes, there are so many different languages spoken here that you might think you're in Paris.
Despite all this, it is a very good neighborhood that respects and appreciates each other. In front of the house we installed a nice bed and a bench where you can enjoy the setting sun. The campground itself has sun from early morning until about 6pm.
The meadow is very flat and has enough space to also neatly brace a tent.

The sanitary facilities

There is a water hose that we put outside as well as an alcove where you can use the natural toilet unobserved.

The amenities

Wifi available and we can also put a long power cable to the tent.

The activities

From here you can reach the Ruhtalradweg in 10 minutes by bike, the Bochum Mining Museum in 20 minutes or the Zeche Zollverein in Essen in the same time. There are various restaurants from snack bars, franchise chains to the "good Italian". There is a large playground directly behind the campground and a penny market as well as a kiosk, which can be reached on foot in under 5 min. In Dahlhausen on the Ruhr it is also possible to rent a canoe.

Other things

We have a Bullitt-E cargo bike that we can also lend out for an additional charge if it is available.

Rules

- Please dispose/clean dry toilet yourself.
- Cigarettes belong in the ashtray.
- Unfortunately no open fire possible.
- No loud music after 11 pm.
