Description

Location "Dent du marais
A large plot of land located in the village of Saint-Victor-la-Rivière, in the Sancy massif, between the village of Murol (interesting for its castle) and the medieval village of Besse, with beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

The setting

Perfect for a relaxing break!
The plot is a little out of the way in a tiny village. Amenities (supermarkets, bakery, launderette...) are a 5-minute drive away, but there's a restaurant in the village, just a two- or three-minute walk away!
All around you, meadows, fields, beautiful panoramas, and no passing cars at all!
Sometimes horses will live in the meadow a few meters in front of your tent, and sometimes our pigs will live in their pen further down the field.
In short, a perfect place for nature lovers!

The spots

Our 4 pitches (15m² each) are all equipped with an awning and wooden decking, so you can enjoy the outdoors even in bad weather, and are oriented towards the best viewpoint.
We generally count 1 pitch for 1 tent for 2 people, but it is possible to add a second tent on the same pitch for an extra 5 euros per person, provided the tents are small enough to fit 2 people.
Table and chairs are provided, as is access to electricity.

The sanitary facilities

The sanitary block includes 2 showers with hot water, 2 dry toilets, 1 outdoor sink for washing up.
In order to respect the environment, we ask you to use only natural and ecological products for showers and washing-up (which can be made available to you if you don't have any).

The amenities

A shared fridge is also available close to the pitches, as is a wood-fired barbecue area.
Parking is on the street at the far end of the site (free parking, street with very little traffic.
No wifi, but internet and telephone reception is generally good.

The activities

Within easy walking distance: numerous starting points for walks and hikes
5 minutes by car: the village of Murol and its medieval castle
Within 10 minutes' drive: the medieval village of Besse, Lac Chambon (walks, beaches, pedalos, kayaks and paddles for hire, our pony rides), Lac Pavin (walks), acrobranche parks, the Saint Nectaire swimming pool, our equestrian farm and its horse-riding activities.
15 to 20 minutes by car: the Superbesse ski resort (giant zip line, hiking, downhill mountain biking, adventure course, summer tobogganing...), the Chaudefour valley and its hiking trails.
A little further afield, but not too far: la Bourboule, le Mont Dore...

Other things

Less than 5 minutes' walk away, collection point for household waste and sorted cardboard/plastic/metal/glass.
Unless otherwise agreed, arrivals are scheduled between 5pm and 8pm, and departures before 11am. Thank you in advance :)

Situation
  • very pretty site
Magnificent view of the volcanoes and the castle.

pity the pitches are too close together and quite small (given the space there is) ù
    rather dangerous access stairs.

  • Location with a superb view! The hut with table and chairs is practical, and the sanitary facilities are easily accessible. However, there's no place to park the car next to the tent for unloading (and a steep slope to access the flat terrain).

  • A very pleasant and peaceful place with a beautiful view of the mountains and Murol castle.
The shelters and facilities are perfect for enjoying meals and putting your things down.
A very warm welcome, but no time to chat with the owners, because while we were on vacation, others were brushing up!

  • Nice view, also view of the meadow with the horses :)
A big plus is that we were able to use the small terrace that was always in front of the tent pitch (with table and chairs). Access to electricity: top! The sanitary facilities were also very good: two hot showers, two dry toilets, an outside tap for washing up or brushing your teeth. We were also kindly welcomed by Adrien, who explained everything to us.

The only drawback was that the toilet doors couldn't be closed from the outside, so they were always wide open when not in use. It's just a small thing that can be fixed very quickly.

  • We were two families with two large tents. Adrien suggested a different pitch for more space and peace and quiet. So great!
On the other hand, there wasn't much grass and a lot of volcanic dust.
The sanitary facilities are clean and pleasant.

The place is really wild and natural.

  • It's a great experience, the grounds are superbly laid out, the toilets are clean, the fridge is very practical, and the view is magnificent!

(Small hitch: there was a storm with gusts up to 85km/h, so it was impossible to stay on the site with the tent, and the host didn't suggest any solution for our safety).

  • Nice plot
The view is superb. Chateau de Murol opposite, the Sancy to the left.
But the hosts weren't very present. At one point they ran out of organic toilet paper...

The pitches are quite small and not very flat.
We should make them bigger and space out the cabins. It's a pity to have such a big space and to be stuck to the neighbors.

Otherwise great concept. The cabins, showers, dry toilets...
electricity super accessible, camping equipment available

  • A quiet place to relax with a beautiful view. Dry toilets, two hot showers and a sink. Electricity available. The big tent just passes. A tarpaulin roof with a table and two chairs in front of each pitch. Four pitches in all. The car is parked about fifty meters away. Possibility of unloading behind the pitch. For climbing, the Dent de la rancune is 10 minutes away.

  • The setting is grandiose, with breathtaking scenery. The proximity of the horses, the ecological approach, the presence of hard shelters in front of each pitch, and the cleanliness of the sanitary facilities are major assets. Nothing but positive things! Many thanks to you all.

  • Really nice site, lovely views of Murol castle and absolute peace and quiet.
Small covered terrace in front of each of the four pitches, with two chairs and a small table.
Please don't bring a tent that's too big: three places without an awning, but no more...
    Top-notch sanitary facilities!
    Friendly welcome from Adrien.

  • Very quiet location with an incredible view. The welcome was very warm and we didn't expect to have so much at our disposal; electricity, cabins for each pitch...
We wish we could have stayed longer :)
We wish we could have stayed longer :) Thank you!

  • Friendly and helpful hosts, a location with a superb view????

  • Only negative point: I was not welcomed in real. Maybe because of a lack of time or because I arrived too late (around 5pm..)
It lacked this side of meeting, discussion, sharing that I was looking for and that I could find in other Homecamper. But this is a personal opinion.

Otherwise the setting is superb, the facilities are top notch! It's clean, quiet and very well organized.
I recommend it for sure !

  • The view on the castle of Murol is magnificent. The spacious, covered cabins with tables and chairs are very, very appreciable.
The sanitary facilities are charming and play their role well.
On the other hand, we did not see anyone when we arrived and when we left. We were counting on the owners to give us the nice places to visit! We missed it!
The place reserved for the tents is narrow. Decath's three-person tent fits really just right.
The 4m space between the hut and the horses' paddock could be enlarged a bit.

  • Superb view and very quiet, delighted with our stay!

  • The main site was full but we were redirected to the stable in an idyllic setting overlooking the valley and the Sancy mountains. The sanitary facilities and vehicles are far away but worth it for a nice quiet camping experience. The stargazing was perfect. We highly recommend it.

  • A place for two small tents; a corner, sheltered from the sun or the rain, made of wood and private, in front of the tent with a view on the valley; hot showers and dry toilets, all clean; a refrigerator corner, electricity if needed... luxury, in the quiet, in all simplicity. Nothing is missing for those who want to rest, after a good day, or before a good day. For information, the practice of climbing in the Valley of Chaudefour, with the Crête de Coq and the Dent de la Rancune, is at 10 minutes by car.

  • We loved the view, the small huts very practical, to take the breakfast in front of horses and mountains ????????
We recommend 100% for nature lovers and tranquility :)))

  • Very pleasant experience, no connection with a house next door. My wife and I were very happy to discover this site. The site of the tent is on the ground directly, a kind of wooden pre-high allows to take advantage of a welcome shade, we even took advantage of 2 chairs and a table (to be dusted), very practical (but I am not sure that it is systematic on all the sites), the whole in front of a remarkable view. The 4 pitches are adjoining and are on top of a field, near a road (convenient for unloading). A kind of wooden cabin nearby shelters 2 good quality showers and 2 dry toilets which are quite functional but whose comfort could probably be improved if one wanted to be fussy (seat not folding, quite high, door a bit difficult to close, sawdust not always available, constantly wet floor in one of the toilets), all that remains minor, the whole is simply roots, but still clean and functional. We were delighted with the experience and highly recommend it!

  • Arrival in autonomy. Last minute possible. Superb view. Pitch next to a wooden hut with chair and table. There is electricity, water, dry toilet and shower. It was great !

  • Pleasant stay in front of a superb view.

  • Nice welcome, quiet place with a nice view.

  • Beautiful setting for camping! Clean sanitary facilities
Pitches are fairly close to each other

  • Very good stay! We were alone in a quiet place, hut with fridge on the spot, practical for the shade in addition to the tent, hot water for the showers and the sanitary hut not too far. Be careful with the size of the pitches with large family tents, rather intended for small tents. Beautiful view on the valley and the castle of Murol.
