Description

The garden is very rural and quiet, yet only 250 meters from the marina, all amenities (Intermarché, Liddl, optician, fishmonger, Mac Do, Kébab, Bricomarché, hairdresser...), bus stop and accrobranche course.
All the walks to the town center, 600m away, allow you to admire the Bay and the herds of salt-meadow sheep that graze there (except during high tides and the coldest winter months).
Between 700m and 1km you'll discover the narrow streets of the medieval part of town and the sailors' chapel. Numerous restaurants, artists' stores and exhibitions are open all year round.
600 meters away, the steam train (closed for part of the winter) takes you around the Baie de Somme or to the SNCF station (several abbeys, belfries, Amiens cathedral, museums, major fishing ports...). I can drive you to the train station in 5 minutes and pick you up there.
Just 600 meters away, the cycle path takes you to Fort Mahon Plage on one side (sandy beach) and Cayeux sur mer on the other (pebble and sandy beach) in complete safety. I can accompany you to fish for shrimp or discover places where you'll be almost alone on acres of beach at the height of the tourist season. Picnic walks in the forests of Crécy (80 Somme) and Eu (76 Seine Maritime) are welcome in case of heatwave.
Cinemas at €3 (600m) and free concerts and exhibitions (800m) follow one another every vacation.
If you have any health problems, the medical center and pharmacy are 800 meters away, and the laboratory is just up the road.

The setting

2 terraces equipped with table and chairs, barbecue and deckchairs are at your disposal, one to the north and one to the south.
Cement, flagstone or gravel paths lead into the garden, where benches and a barbecue await you next to a small chalet with a gas camping site and a sink with jerrycan. You can pick raspberries and gooseberries on the way.
An integral sunbathing area is hidden away at the very top of the garden. On your way up, you'll come across the chickens that provide the good organic eggs for breakfast.
The entire garden is terraced, with only the driveway on uneven ground.
The street is busy but quiet from dusk to 8 or 9 a.m., even at the height of the tourist season, and the camper van parks between 10 and 25 meters from the street, in the enclosed parking lot protected from the wind and hot sun.
The house, with disabled access (except for the shower), is open to you. It's not large, but it's convivial. You'll find board games for children and adults, a DVD player or TV, a small French billiard table, a dart board, a children's/adults' library, table soccer for children, all sorts of musical instruments to help you forget the rain if it persists, but more often than not the tide brings clouds that fall inland during the day or water the (email hidden)Table tennis and outdoor games are also available.
For the winter vacations, you're welcome to sit by the flames of the wood-burning stove and enjoy a hot drink after your walks.

The spots

The parking lot can accommodate 3 camper vans and the garden several tents (2000 m2 of land), but I limit this to 2 camper vans, 5 tents and 15 people, so that everyone is comfortable and can enjoy their vacation at their own pace (200m2 are available for a group of young people in tents), at the top of the site, away from other campers.
Lighting throughout, 2 outdoor water points, a drinking water tap and an underground rainwater collection tank.
Numerous outdoor electrical outlets and the possibility of borrowing my extension cords.
Automatic gate with remote control and key.
Trucks over 7m60 long have difficulty maneuvering in. The parking lot is between 4 and 5 meters wide + a 1-meter concrete sidewalk.
The entire plot is well fenced and laid out in several enclosed areas of around 200m2 each, all offering shade and sun.
Each pitch offers garden table and chairs, deckchairs, electricity, outdoor spotlight and filtered rainwater canister (non-drinking). Parasol and barbecue available.

The sanitary facilities

You have access to a sewage system outside. In the house, you have access to the toilet, shower (the massaging shower = 1 to 2 € depending on the time spent), hairdryer, washing machine (in case of emergency, there are washing machines and tumble dryers 250 meters up the street from me). Your laundry can be dried in the sun or in the house, and a steam iron is available.

The amenities

Wifi is secure and can be tapped all around the house (I understand electrosensitive people and can turn off the wifi, but it's only at the top of the property that you won't get any waves).
Stove, fridge, mini-oven, microwave, toaster, citrus press, raclette or fondue machine, waffle maker, food processor, are all at your disposal (please return them in the same clean and working order). The loan of crockery and pots and pans is reserved for hikers and cyclists.
The 12-place dishwasher requires a €3 charge, including product. The large oven for cooking suckling pig or goose will cost between 5 and 10€ depending on cooking time.
There are several sockets in the house for recharging cell phones.
A small wine cellar in the basement is at 13°C all year round, where you can keep your purchases of fine vintages, and a small bar awaits you for tasting them (very pleasant in the event of a heatwave!).
Drinks and fruit packs can be stored in a cool place in a building adjoining the parking lot.

The activities

The tourist office, open all year round, is just 600 meters away and offers all the latest activities and useful contacts; crossing the Baie de Somme with a guide, walks to discover the edible plants of the bay (I'll collect some and can take you there), observation of the seals that populate the bay, numerous hiking trails, including one at the top of the cliffs between Onival and Mers les Bains, horse-riding on the beach, outings on quad bikes or 4/4 electric scooters, hot-air balloon, ulm or tourist plane rides (from spring to autumn, boarding 25 kms away), rental of electric bikes or small boats for 4 people on the river (700 m away), outings in the Bay on several tourist boats (600 m away), canoes and sea kayaks with or without a guide (400 m away), tennis courts on the other side of town, sailing clubs (15 kms), chars à voile (25 kms), good kite surfing spots (between 15 and 25 kms), the Parc du Marquenterre and other birdwatching spots (17 kms), large, little-frequented fishing pond (8 kms), .....
All accessible by bike, bus or train. I can drive you if you let me know the day before, but you will be asked to pay 80 cents per kilometer (unless I have to go where you want to go).
For those who don't want to miss a race, or for smokers, the PMU bar-tobacco shop is just 200 meters away.
A little electric train takes you around St Valery, and a free shuttle bus takes you all over town in summer.

Other things

Breakfast costs 8€, but as some people only eat breakfast for 2€ in the morning, I can prepare a small picnic for 6€ to offset the price. Breakfast can be served from 6:30am to 11am. Savory or sweet, freshly boiled organic eggs or bacon, freshly baked bread, coffee or decaf, hot or cold chocolate, teas, herbal teas, fruit juices to suit you and to be agreed the day before by 5pm or for your entire stay (I buy everything fresh in the evening). The house table seats 8, but I can bring breakfast to your truck in the parking lot, or to the first tent camping area. If you choose to pitch your tent on the 2nd or 3rd area, please come and collect it or enjoy it in the house or on the terraces.
You can reserve a hot or cold picnic supplied in a cooler or aluminum bag. Please reserve before noon the day before. Prices depend on the menu you choose (between 6 and 12€). Vegetarian menu available. Biodegradable crockery, plastic food containers and thermos flasks are provided. I'll point out picnic tables in quiet, shady or sunny areas.
I can look after your children (or your pet) during an adult outing, but you must remain contactable by phone and notify me of any medical problems. I no longer have any baby equipment. Only a booster seat is available.

Rules

Everyone is free to think and live as he or she wishes, as long as they respect others, be they human, animal or vegetable.
I'll adapt my schedule to yours as much as possible. The important thing is that you leave your stopover or vacation happy, taking with you some of the changing colors and natural smells of the Baie de Somme, wonderful in all seasons, or the sound of the waves on the pebbles...
The house is non-smoking, but there is a smoking area in one of the buildings. Ashtrays and litter garbage cans are scattered around the house; please do not throw cigarette butts and papers on the ground. Garbage bags for selective sorting will be provided.
Please let us know if you wish to see my 3 dogs ( 1 Labrador, 1 yorkshire terrier, 1 small cross terrier ) , 2 cats and the dwarf pig (his canine-defences have been cut by the vet; it doesn't hurt the pig and he can't hurt you if he starts charging when you bother him too much). They have a room for their baskets, the house is well ventilated and cleaned every day.
They all came to me after being tortured, so they've become a bit too cuddly, but they obey everyone and are forbidden to get into vehicles. They are calm and funny. They love children.
They are all very sociable with any other animal, so I refuse to take in an aggressive or cat-killing dog.
They are all groomed, vaccinated, wormed, neutered and take their flea/tick pills regularly. If you come with your pet, I want to be warned and your pet must be wormed and treated for fleas and ticks.
I know that many people can't stand animals, sometimes because they don't know them or have bad memories of them. Perhaps we could try to reconcile them with some cuddly animals ( however, 2 campers asked me to lock them up day and night; I cancelled their reservation ).
My pets never go into the tent areas and will not go into the parking lot if you wish.
If you come with a rabbit, don't walk it in the presence of the 2 small terrier dogs; they are rabbit hunters but they won't do anything if the cage is on a table. If you're traveling with your birds, or any other caged animal, there's a large table in a cool building next to the parking lot. Beware of your cat running away; behind the house the gardens and pastures smell of adventure! Your pets remain your responsibility, but I can look after them during some of your outings (please let me know the day before).

Extras

Possibility of breakfast (€8 / person)

Breakfast is €8, but as some people only eat for €2 or €3 in the morning, I can prepare a picnic for €4 or €5 to compensate. Breakfast can be savory or sweet; fresh bread, croissant, cookies, jam, organic butter (plain or salted), cold meats, seasonal fruit, coffee/tea/tisan/chocolate (hot or cold), fruit juice. Breakfast available from 6.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. (picnics can also be prepared for lunch or dinner; price between €4 and €12, depending on menu).

Tent ready

2 tents of 2 places can be rented for 5€ the night by tent (I clean them every time) + the price of the cleaning if they are not returned in the same state of cleanliness (= 20€ by tent). Electric socket + spotlights + jerry can and toilet available.

  • charming little house, lovely little grounds.
a host devoted to her visitors,
    we had a great time.
    I will return.

  • Séverine is extremely welcoming and a kind-hearted person.
She gives advice on the surrounding area and how to find a good restaurant.
Perfectly located and very well equipped for pitching your tent.
You can go there with your eyes closed.

  • The place is fantastic, a very good layout with everything you need at your disposal. Séverine made us feel very welcome and gave us great advice on places to visit in the area. She knows everything you need to have a great vacation in the Bay Area.
And Hercule the pig is very nice too!

  • A truly enjoyable stay with a couple as atypical as they are endearing. Pitches of all sizes located 2 steps from the bay surrounded by pets.

  • Séverine is a very nice person with a big heart.
    An unforgettable stay.

  • My daughter and I loved it.

  • We were very warmly welcomed and received. Everything was there that you need as a camper and there were many animals to watch and pet. The communication was also very warm and funny. We talked in three languages (French, German and English) and with hands and feet. :) We would stay at Séverine again any time. <3

  • Chez Severine is a house of happiness! She welcomes all nationalities, all social levels, all modes of mobility.
The grounds are well laid out with small, flat terraces. Access to the sanitary facilities is easy and available 24 hours a day.
The breakfast is super copious, even too much so!
And Séverine is very welcoming, with a great way of explaining what there is to see in the area. She also gives tips on how to find a good restaurant that's not a tourist trap.
    I recommend her ++.

  • Don't hesitate to visit Séverine, you won't be disappointed!

  • Well placed for visiting Saint-Valery-sur-Somme and the entire Picardy coast.

  • We had a great time as a family, Severine is very kind and attentive.
The setting is really nice, surrounded by animals and greenery and lots to see around, and it's quiet.

  • We were remarkably well received by Séverine, who is a sunny person and well worth the trip.

Between her admirable animal rescue, the little touches she prepared for our arrival, her warm and friendly garden layout and her contagious joie de vivre, we had an unforgettable stay.

Not to mention Alain, her aide-de-camp, who was always on hand to help keep things running smoothly.
Breakfast was copious, varied and made with local produce.

If you don't know what to visit, she has a thousand tips, anecdotes and advice in her pocket to help you discover the region she loves so much.

Our dog, Dobby, was received like a queen.

Without hesitation, we'll be returning to Séverine's home soon to relive the adventure.

  • A very good stay. Severine was extremely considerate with my fear of dogs. Hers are adorable. We came for a quiet hike, and were given a small spot with a shelter where we could settle in more comfortably. Severine knows how to lay down the rules to guarantee the peace and quiet of some and the desire to party of others. Despite the crowds (mid-August), we were still able to use the toilet and bathroom without any problems.
Thanks to Severine's humorous anecdotes, we felt that we weren't just tourists, but part of the landscape.

  • We had a very pleasant stay. Séverine is very attentive to the well-being of her guests. I recommend her

  • For visiting Saint-Valery-Sur-Somme, Séverines home is perfectly located. By foot, it takes you 5 minutes to the harbour and the start of the city. But that's the only positive note.

The first night, we were over 30 persons staying there. So waiting for the bathroom, no space, too loud... very unpleasant. You stay at Séverines home, so there is only 1 bathroom for all the guests (and upstairs another toilet but without door). I asked if I could take a shower, so Séverine chased everybody away to make space for me, which made me feel very uncomfortable and guilty.

There are lots of animals in the house/garden: a big pig, 4 dogs, cats, chickens... and that brings trouble: the dogs pee against everything (camping table, bikes...), they bark (during the evening and when triggered during the night), the pig eats everything you leave unattended, they poo everywhere and all these animals attract rats.

And on top of that, Séverine follows you like a shadow and sees everything, constantly asking if you're ok. We missed some privacy.

We do not understand all the positive reviews, we would totally not recommand. And we have a lot of camping experience!

If Séverine would only let 2 families stay (or couples/single travelers), who know what to expect with the animals, maybe it would be an ok place.

  • Unique experience ????????
    Spanish inn style
    Very warm welcome.
I think it's ideal for tents.
    Less practical for vans

  • A week's stay at Séverine's, very good welcome, she explains the history of Saint-Valery and the things to visit and eat. She's a gracious host, always attentive and helpful.

Alone with my 7-year-old son and on my bike, we were very comfortable and this large property is ideally located with all amenities and the port 500m away.

Possibility of taking the Vapeur and Diesel train to Cayeux and Le Crotoy, at a really affordable price for 2 consecutive days, with return ticket.

Very good stay, you can go there with your eyes closed, especially if you love animals because Séverine is an animal lover. The children are very happy.

We'll be going back on vacation because it's just like the region, scenic and rejuvenating.

Thanks again Séverine and see you soon.

  • Despite a promising announcement, the result was a huge disappointment. The pitch was only 12m² and everyone is on top of each other. Access is on a slope. There's no parking, you have to park on the street. The sanitary facilities are at the inhabitant's. The site is a real dump, with collections of old abandoned doors and bricks in storage. As my neighbors would say, it's as atypical as its owners.
We were very poorly received, even though we arrived on time. Madame had had a very trying day, she was making a meal and left us to fend for ourselves. As a result, we were given virtually no information about the toilets, the bathroom... And when our cat escaped, she threatened to grab it, put it in a crate and kick us out in the morning! (This cat is the support animal of my autistic son, who had an extremely hard time with this scene). She shouts non-stop that this is her home, these are her rules. But she doesn't respect the ad she's selling. No parking, no wifi, we ask where to do our laundry and she sends us to the launderette (10€ +). Her animals make us live in a fenced-in park. The dwarf pig is very fat and eats right off the living-room floor. The dogs poop everywhere, and even if it's quickly picked up, it's unpleasant. You'll no doubt be charmed by his "kindness", but if you don't like being on first-name terms and his language, it might be hard for you. Ah, and the games, all broken... Well, all of them, a poor pink baby hut, a ping pong table and a destroyed foosball table.
A huge regret to have given our money for a stay where every morning we fled this person's noxious and anxiety-provoking atmosphere. So yes, she's very appealing because of her pseudo-naturalism, but don't be fooled...
We had to stay until Thursday 7pm. I said okay, we'll leave the tent, go and have a look around, and our cat will stay here (on a leash outside the tent with a shelter). And then no! "If it's like that, you're leaving early tomorrow morning or before 3pm! "Total change of atmosphere. So we left on the sly, without taking advantage of a day on site to finish our visits. She then told us that our place had been quickly taken! In fact, there were at least 4 free places left.... An exhausting stay to deal with this unstable personality. Of course, I expect her to deny everything I've said and accuse me of I don't know what. In the meantime, I have photo proof that no, you won't have a beautiful, charming setting and a hostess who takes great care of you. Good luck to you all!

  • Very warm welcome from Séverine. Her house is ideally located and her garden very spacious and well laid out for camping. We recommend it!

  • Life is full of opportunities: discovering the app in the morning, trying to make a reservation at 5:00 pm... and Séverine got back to me.
Magnificent meeting(s) in an unsuspected location a stone's throw from the port of St Valéry.
Top-notch welcome. Authentic sharing in every respect.
First experience beyond what I imagined.
    THANK YOU!
    François

  • Séverine is a host full of generosity, sympathy and humour. We had a great weekend and were able to pitch our tent on a top-quality site.
Access to amenities is easy, and her house is a warm space with adorable animals.

This welcoming environment enabled us to discover the Baie de Somme region in complete peace despite the rain. We hope to repeat the experience soon.

  • Very warm welcome, easy to talk to and communicate with, and good evenings....
Many thanks to Séverine for her warm welcome and availability.

  • perfect stay
A campsite at the entrance to Saint Valéry that's a little narrow for big C-Cs, but has all the amenities: shower, electricity, cassette drainage, water,
an aperitif is even offered for new arrivals Séverine goes out of her way to welcome and ensure the well-being of her campers, and shows you around town in her own car.
It was a great experience for me and my wife, as it was my first outing in a camper van.
voila, at Séverine's we have no worries

  • Beautiful garden with several terraces for tents. Séverine and her little troupe of animals are very welcoming and go out of their way to make you feel at home. The kitchen is at your disposal and a varied breakfast is offered with chicken eggs and herbs from the garden. All this on the magnificent Baie de Somme, just a stone's throw from the charming town of Saint Valery.

  • Friendly and pleasant welcome, close to town and shops.
Nothing to do with traditional CC areas.
    Thank you

  • Disappointed with the location, contrary to the wording of the ad our tents were very close to each other (4m) and on the site of the old chicken coop (bare earth).
And above all a bathroom with shower and toilet for 30 campers.

  • Camping car to be avoided and as far as the Vietnamese pig is concerned, it should have an enclosure as it attacked my friend who was injured, so be careful! Séverine is friendly but too close to her pig, which makes her too sure of her behavior.

  • Perfect welcome, atypical garden, made up of several camping areas with small terraces. We're not one on top of the other. Nice little farm.
    Recommended address.

  • Séverine was a very friendly host, concerned about everyone's well-being!
The location is perfect for exploring Saint Valery on foot.
    To know more

  • Very welcoming host

  • Super WE! Thank you Séverine for your kindness, your availability, your knowledge of your environment! 2 days, 1 night where my children and I enjoyed the surroundings and your pleasant, soothing garden, with all those adorable animals adding a real plus ????. A region to discover at greater length on occasion.

  • Thank you Séverine for your warm welcome!
It was a wonderful meeting ✨
    See you soon!

  • A warm welcome at Séverine's home, where you can discover the riches of the Baie de Somme. Séverine loves her animals, which are her reason for living. A small farm 2 steps from St Valery town center. Thank you for everything!

  • Great welcome from Séverine, who shares her house for cooking and showering.
    Lots of affectionate animals.
Place on the gravelled driveway for our kangoo and roof tent, as access to the garden was not possible by car. Only slight downside.
Beautiful town and lovely walk to admire the setting sun.

  • Great welcome from Séverine . A great tour guide. Our dog was also very welcome.

  • We stayed at Séverine's for two nights. The location, just a stone's throw from the town center, meant we didn't have to use our car to get around.
Séverine, our host, was not stingy with her advice, even offering to drive us to a tourist site. Her good advice and kindness made for a great stay. We had a wonderful encounter. Many thanks again.

  • Super night at Séverine's. House very well located in Saint Valéry. Enormous welcome and kindness. Thank you

  • A very, very nice meeting with Séverine. She's all about simplicity and authenticity. She's very attentive to all the campers and gave us lots of advice, even taking us to places little known to tourists. She's always ready to help you out.

It's a friendly place (we met up with her and the other campers for aperitifs in a friendly and informal atmosphere).
We had a great weekend that left us with many fond memories.
Thank you for a very successful experience (and Séverine had a lot to do with it).

  • An excellent stay and a very warm welcome
    Thanks again

    Ségolène and Guillaume

  • The HomeCamper's central location is very attractive.
    Sevrine is charming and exotic...
A large plot at the back is perfect for tents. The place is still a bit bohemian, but that's the charm of the gite.
For vans, however, there's only a small roadside parking lot. Good for the night, but nothing more.

  • Very good welcome, we got to know the site very well, very good atmosphere with the other campers.
We'll be back. It's exactly what we were looking for.

  • Great welcome on arrival at Séverine's, with 1 welcome drink and a map of St Valery with all the explanations that go with it. Location of our "mini van" in the alley in front of the Japanese garden. Access to electricity, shower and toilet.
Hearty breakfast with delicious fried eggs...
in short, we had a great 1st night in our "mini van".
Thank you Séverine for your welcome. Isabelle and Marc

  • I spent 3 nights there and I feel like I stayed longer. A warm welcome with the added bonus of great encounters, a spirit of sharing and interesting conversational exchanges that enhanced the stay. Séverine helped us discover beautiful places that only she knew about, and shared some great moments and evenings... Shrimp fishing.
A must for those who want to experience an unusual, atypical and sometimes folkloric moment, and keep very good memories.

  • Great welcome by Séverine, very attentive and available, lovely terraced garden inside a small island, very quiet (a plus for waking up to birdsong), with a wide choice of pitches to suit all campers' tastes. A shower at Séverine's and a shared space for cooking and eating in the warmth, or the choice of cooking on your own near your tent. The animals are cute and friendly, but will leave you alone if you prefer, and can't access the garden where the tents are anyway. The location is super strategic, just a stone's throw from the center of Saint Valéry, perfect for discovering the bay while leaving your car at Séverine's. I enjoyed it, I'll be back :-)
