Description

The "property" of about 1 hectare is located in an agricultural hamlet of the Vendée bocage, close to the magnificent Mervent Forest.
At 1 hour from La Rochelle / Nantes / Poitiers and 45 minutes from Niort or the Puy du Fou.

The garden reserved for humans and dogs is about 1000 m2. It is closed, with trees and flowers. The rest of the land is reserved for horses.
The house is fed by a spring for water and has a small pond.
It's a quiet and green place where Nature is still preserved.
It is a pleasure to live there... and I would love to show it to you.

The setting

My garden is full of flowers and the animals of the house (dogs, cats, horses, hens) and of Nature (hedgehogs, salamanders, many birds, frogs, bats and insects) live there in harmony.
The hamlet of 5 houses has a dairy farm which supplies me with milk, as well as a magnificent Fief listed in the French buildings.

The spots

The garden can accommodate 1 or 2 vans on an asphalt area or 2 tents on the lawn areas.
- The lawn areas are flat and shaded. No large family tents please. Only small ones (3 people maximum)

- For the vans, there are asphalt areas for easy parking and shade.

Caravans and campers are not allowed because of the low trees.

The sanitary facilities

The sanitary facilities of the house will be made available.
It is a bathroom located on the first floor of the house with a sink, a shower (hot water) and a toilet.
The toilets on the ground floor will also be made available.

For those who wish it and for the night needs, provision of a solar shower and a portable toilet.

The amenities

- No internet (the network is very bad in the area)
- The kitchen of the house is at your disposal with everything you might need. On condition that you leave it clean after your stay.
- The minimum: salt / pepper / sugar ... etc. ... will be provided free of charge provided that you are respectful and do not make reserves.
- An extension cord will be available free of charge for the tents if it is only used for light and to recharge the phones. If there is more than one connection it will be the same price as for the vans.
- A connection for the vans will be possible for 5 € per day

The activities

The main activities in the hamlet are: enjoying the quiet and hiking.
I also have a nice library that I am happy to share with you.
I will be able to advise you on the hikes to do near the house.
There is also at less than 10 kilometers :
- a lake with a beach (paying)
- several activities to do around the lake of Mervent (boat, pedal boat, kayak, fishing...)
- the zoo of Mervent
- The mines of Faymoreau to visit
- The artists' village of Vouvant
and many other things to do

Other things

My house is not suitable for young children and unruly children because the electric strips in the horses' meadow are within reach of their hands, the swimming pool has no protection, my dogs are young and therefore a bit "beefy" .... and like many houses in the country, there are hundreds of silly things to do that could be dangerous for them.
If you wish to come with a young child, you will have to watch him H24 and I will make you sign a discharge in case of accident.

Dogs are also accepted for free (maximum 2). They will have to be vaccinated (presentation of the carnet), not destructive (holes in the garden) and sociable with the other animals of the house. They will have a paddling pool at their disposal but will not be allowed in the pool. You will have to pick up their droppings (to be put in a special garbage can)

Rules

Property rules:
This is not a campsite but my garden and my house. I will therefore ask you to be respectful of the place and its inhabitants :-)

- This is a non-smoking property, both inside the house and outside, and this is non-negotiable.

- The animals of the house are at home and are very sociable. You must accept them. Any act of brutality towards them by you, your children or your dogs, will not be allowed and I will ask you to leave the premises immediately.

- I am a person who is very careful with waste and nature. I will ask my guests to be equally respectful and to separate their waste. Garbage cans will be available for this purpose.... as well as compost and chickens.
- I will also ask them not to abuse the water (which comes from the spring), to play with it or to stay under the shower excessively.

- This is a quiet house and a hamlet where everyone is careful not to disturb the others. Parties, loud music, shouting, barking, etc. are not allowed.

- The parts of the house that will be left at your disposal must be respected and left clean:
- clean the toilets before leaving them
- rinse the shower
- cleaning the gas and kitchen utensils after use
... etc

Extras

Possibility of breakfast (€5 / person)

I propose a breakfast for 5 € per person (adult or child) either
- in the form of a basket : to be taken outside or in your van/tent
- in the house

It includes :
- Tea / coffee or chocolate milk (whole milk from the farm)
- Bread or sandwich bread (wholemeal or cereal)
- Gâche vendéenne (brioche made with fresh cream)
- Butter (salted, sweet and margarine)
- Honey from a beekeeper friend
- Home-made jams
- cereals

On request, it is also possible to have
- eggs (from my hens) : 0,50 € the egg
- home made compote : 1 € the ramekin
- home made yogurt with whole milk: 1 €.
- fruits: price to be defined according to demand and market costs
- vegetable milk: price according to the cost at the supermarket
- other possible requests to see together

Tent ready

Possibility to put at your disposal a 3 places tent, dome with a small awning + 2 real mattresses of 90 cm + fitted sheets, comforters or down and pillows
I will rent it for 2 persons
It will be set up at your arrival.

The extra cost will be 5€ per day.
