Description

Whether you're looking for a night under a starry sky with no light pollution, a good siesta in a hammock in the shade of our orchard, a 360° view of the Bordeaux vineyards, a moment shared around a log fire or on the pétanque court, the chance to discover our renovation work, to take part in our small grape harvest in September, to pick plums, mirabelles, quince .... in the orchard, or simply a base from which to explore the region by bike or hike 3 km from the St Jacques de Compostelle pilgrimage route, you've come to the right place... You'll be welcomed on our private property to enjoy our extraordinary view. We're not professional winemakers, but you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the surrounding vineyards. Whether you're a camper or a backpacker, we know your needs and will do our utmost to meet them.
Our assets: an extraordinary, unobstructed view, no docking facilities in the vicinity, no noise pollution, 30 minutes from Bergerac and Saint Emilion, you're here at the crossroads of 3 départements, allowing you to explore and discover the assets of each: Gironde, Dordogne and Lot et Garonne. 6km from the Dordogne river and a kayak stop, 10km from one of France's most beautiful markets in Sainte Foy la Grande, 3km from the Saint Jacques de Compostelle hiking trails, ...... and much more.

The setting

Halfway between Bergerac and Saint Emilion, situated on a dominant vantage point with unobstructed, panoramic views over the Bordeaux vineyards, our house, a former stone hunting lodge, offers a verdant setting 3km from the center of our beautiful historic village, Gensac, accessible on foot or by bike.
Our 3-hectare park offers 3 different atmospheres:
-a corner in the shade of our fruit trees (plums, mirabelles, cherries, apricots, quinces, pears) or near the cedars,
-a secluded spot in the middle of our 2000m2 vineyard to pitch a tent, or
-a large meadow with an unobstructed view near our lime tree, which we're trying to save. A pétanque court is at your disposal.
A hammock can be set up next to the pétanque court in the shade of the cedars, with a view over the vineyard.

The spots

Several pitches are available to suit your requirements. An independent entrance through a large sliding gate and a driveway allows you to set up in our orchard or in our large 2-hectare meadow with an unobstructed view of the Bordeaux vineyards near our lime tree. Our entrance gives you access to our small 2000m2 vineyard, the center of which allows you to pitch your tent discreetly (no car access between the rows). Flat terrain with no major difficulties. Adirondack armchairs are available for you to enjoy the sunrises and sunsets in comfort.

The sanitary facilities

We've set up a small area dedicated to campers, with independent access from the garden at any time. It's very simple, but you'll find a shower with hot water, a toilet, a washbasin with mirror, a water point for filling your jerry cans and an electrical outlet. 25m cable available for your chosen pitch. We also offer a laundry and drying service for a fee.

The amenities

We have an ecological sanitation system with reeds that allows you to discharge your grey water and ecological toilets, but not chemical toilets. We provide drinking water and an electrical outlet via an extension cord.

The activities

The view ... the rest, the starry night in a hammock, walks in the vineyards from our park, gourmet markets in summer, visits to wine chateaux ... a good game of pétanque on our grounds, a nap in the hammock...., discovering our renovation work, taking part in our small grape harvest if you're visiting in September ..... There are lots of great places to visit in the region, including village events, gourmet markets, our favorite places to eat and restaurants, and we'll be happy to advise you on what to do.

Other things

We have a golden retriever, Merlin, who appreciates t mates. He is free-roaming and not intrusive.

Rules

We are private individuals offering to share our environment. Please let us know when you will be arriving so that we can welcome you personally.
We attach great importance to sustainable development and use natural materials for our renovation.
We allow travelers to empty their grey water and ecological toilets only into our biological sanitation system. We have set up a small area for campers with a shower, toilet and washbasin, and we ask you to keep it clean.
We ask you to leave the pitch as you find it. You may, within reason, dispose of your garbage in our garbage cans.

Extras

Possibility of breakfast (€10 / person)

On request, we can prepare a breakfast for you, including fresh orange juice, coffee or tea, a pastry, bread, butter, milk, homemade jam, yoghurt, cold meats or cheese .... to eat on our terrace or in a chosen spot on our grounds.
