ATTENTION: We don't have internet access at home, by choice, so please contact us by phone first.
Situated in the heart of the hamlet of Cougnac, on a wooded plateau of 1 hectare, we offer you a space to pitch your tent or van among the oaks.
We're used to welcoming people who are just passing through, and we want to make our living space a place of welcome and sharing. Nevertheless, everyone has the possibility of having a private and quiet pitch in the heart of the forest.
A solar shower is available outside, as well as a dry toilet.
A second shower, fridge and cooking facilities are available in the old house (which is currently being renovated, but is very accessible).
For those who wish, we can put our washing machine at your disposal.
We have two border collie dogs, very friendly and sociable. Other pets are welcome, provided they accept the presence of other dogs. Please note that the property is not fenced.
The setting
On the Cougnac plateau, surrounded by oak trees, you'll be in the heart of the hamlet, but in a bubble of greenery and calm.
The road at the bottom of the hamlet is a small, relatively lightly traveled thoroughfare, so there's very little disturbance. At night, there's no noise to disturb your sleep, apart from owls and the occasional barking dog.
The spots
The possible pitches are all in the shade, on flat ground. Only part of the site is accessible by car. For tents, it's then easy to set up a little further away.
The sanitary facilities
Dry toilets are available outside. An outdoor solar shower is also available.
For those who wish, an indoor shower with hot water and washbasin is available in the house's old bathroom.
The amenities
We are not connected to the internet, but if you have a smartphone, the internet connection works fine.
For those who wish, we have the house's old kitchen at your disposal, equipped with sink, fridge and gas stove. There are also pots, pans, plates, glasses and cutlery.
As far as electricity is concerned, you can of course plug your equipment into the sockets inside the house. If necessary, an extension cord can be drawn, provided of course that your tent or van is at a reasonable distance from the house.
The activities
During your stay, you can visit the prehistoric caves at Cougnac (my partner is a guide there, and will be delighted to show them to you!), go canoeing or swimming in the Dordogne, cool off at the Lac d'écoute if it's raining, which is just a few minutes away, climb the accrobranche at the Forêt des Elfes, or of course explore the many hiking trails in and around the house! For those who wish, we can put our maps of the region and our bikes at your disposal.
Other things
For shopping, Les Halles de Cougnac, a producers' market where you can find bread, cheese, vegetables, fruit, meat, fish and other local produce, is just a 5-minute walk from the house!
